#Underwhelming Sandbox Powers

Hello, following this discussion (https://discord.com/channels/852642429105995786/1371128260343238850) and specifically my comment here #1371128260343238850 message I wanted to give more specific feedback on powers. I think there's quite a few powers that are really cool but just are too weak or situational to consider most of the time.

So I'm going to list out a bunch of powers I think should be adjusted and sometimes ideas on how they could be adjusted. Going to send them as seperate messages and so we can react/reply to them individually.

  • Twister Blast - Property where it gives height to self is difficult to use/feels inconsistent with a lot of the use-cases outside of the full floating dashes.

  • Capture Ball - Not weak at all, but might be interesting if cooldown could be different depending on the captured camp. Could be reduced if the minion is "weak". Would make those options more interesting for using them for the "ally" interactions for example Elluna dash resets. Some creeps feel like they have no reason to be captured.

  • Brush Boar - Feels worse than Capture Ball but has almost double the cooldown.

  • Throwing Axe - Tree felling feels good, could there be another small reason to pick it up outside of that? Maybe hitting trees with it has a chance to drop something? Then I'd feel better about carrying it around if I don't have a combo.

  • Jelly Cube - Feels underwhelming I think, could be bigger baseline and then have only one extra stage to get to max size. I think you shouldn't need 3+ to reach max size.

  • Express Delivery - Cooldown feels way too long when there are far better mobility powers with far shorter CDs

  • Forest Walking/Friend of the forest - Usually is a worse tree costume since tree costume gives forest walking already. I think it should be combined with friend of the forest (Especially with the new mana system). Makes it a more tantalizing combo with other tree making powers.

  • Iron Fist - Use outside of tree punching feels extremely underwhelming, would like it to feel better outside of that usecase.

  • Chonker - Hasn't seen any play really, feels too niche compared to what typically gets used. I do love it though, would maybe make it do more damage? Or just make it more common/lower rarity so it becomes the power you pick up when you don't have something else.

  • Fishing pole - Love it, the actual fishing from water feels super slow though. Also is janky when there are multiple targets where it lands. I think it should pull all the targets it lands on. IE trying to fish an enemy but pulls the item they are standing on instead.

thowing axe by itself is mid, but with money tree you have one of the most broken power combos in the game

Would that be all the powers on your list? I just feel like I don't see a lot of powers get used very often and while a lot of them do have use cases, they often seem too niche and are dropped immediately upon finding more broadly applicable options, so I feel like I more often end up seeing the subset of powers that are just generically strong and don't enable as many interesting interactions. Just feels to me like a lot of the powers could be buffed a little bit to be a little more competitive with some of the more generically useful options so we see more variety & interesting interactions.

Feels like a good chunk of the time even if I'm in the "best case scenario" for a power, it isn't enough to justify using it over other powers, and I'll very often have the opportunity to find one of those other powers in the later half of the game because everyone else is doing the same.

In the recent pugs or earlier ones? Because I don't remember doing something like that. Comparing it to Airblast, it has a smaller hitbox, lower range & moves you toward the person/thing your trying to hit and perhaps the biggest difference, it has a windup time. Even compared to tree punch combo I would rather have airblast + X. Which feels a little bad because punch feels like it has more interesting interactions than airblast. So it kinda still seems worse than other simpler power even in what would be it's typical best case scenario.

Airblast also has cool interactions, but I feel like it would be nice if those cool interactions were a little more of a factor when choosing between them. Doesn't have to be anything crazy though.

Chonker is my all time favorite power, it used to be extremely broken in pre-alpha days when it was buffed for a single patch to stop all incoming projectiles on start up... i think i was the only one who noticed but for jin that power was insane because i could jump in front of people, immediately stop their pressure, then have a massive stun wall to walk behind and take positioning. Now it is smaller and you will die on startup if not pre-emptive but it is still good for short range characters to approach with. Also i love dashing into someone / grappling them etc. and dropping a chonker right on their face lol. Great power with tons of fun uses but most characters would rather just shoot you instead of place one. Maybe it could use a little love but the power isnt too far off from being way too strong

i miss it, wish they would instead just nerf the stun duration to be like the normal boars opposed to 1.5 seconds

I have an old clip hitting someone with it, into Elluna RMB into the boar charging them again, knocking them into abyss and killing them xD.
