I've also noticed the game is consuming a big amount of my RAM (4G) I don't know if it's normal, but I've been experiencing FPS drops specially in crucial moments, my Laptop should not have any problems running this game smoothly. I would like some advices and help on what to do. This game looks incredible fun and it's a game I wanna put my time in :). I can record a match if needed so you can see what happens.
#Big FPS drops in fights mostly in fights.

Do you have Malwarebytes installed?
Should I get this?
I don't believe I have any malware but doesn't hurt to double check
I asked because there is a known incompatibility with Malwarebytes which causes games to hitch and stall when loading files from disk
So anything else I could do?
Can I get a copy of your logs? C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\SUPERVIVE\Logs
you can zip them and attach them here and I can take a look
try directx 11
worked for me pretty fine with genereall fps probs
While your laptop is CPU and GPU are almost 6 years old, it should be enough to run smoothly.
have a few suggestions:
- Disable Medal and see if you get perf improvements
- Disable Dynamic Global Illumination from the video settings menu
- Clear our Dx12 driver shader caches : https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/c-Category_Fortnite/c-Fortnite_TechnicalSupport/fortnite-stutters-heavily-and-has-below-expected-performance-on-directx-12-a000088950
- Finally, I would test out running on DirectX 11, While I believe the performance here should generally be worse, but might be more stable (switch back to DX12 if you don't see any wins)
- You might need to remove the -DX12 command line parameter you added
Also, be sure to enable the perf graphs located in the UI settings tab. Good graphs to have up are GameThread, RenderThread, RHI and GPU.. This could help indicate if your issue is more CPU or GPU bottlenecked
Sometimes the Fortnite client will try to repeatedly recompile DirectX shaders without stopping, which results in heavy stuttering while pla
My Personal feeling with directx 11 is that its runs abit smoother than 12 for older systems.
To be fair my Pc is 6+ years old and I have a 1060gb with i5 9400F and I have problems with frames aswell, as example when day and night shifts theyre usually some drops and the purple goo zone bottom left from kobayashi is worse most of the time. I dunno if it helps atleast abit but i think some clues here and there can help u guys
I will try all of this and come back to you
Dx11 works better
But I still have the same issue with FPS drops
I will record a match and send it here
Can you do so with the perf graphs on?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYuu5EoRHLQ&feature=youtu.be (without perf graphs on)
I will do another match with it on now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDyIjI20i3g (with perf graphs)
Interesting, we have not seen these type of issues before.
From the video we can clearly see that something is making the GPU stall for a few seconds every once in a while.. tanking your average FPS from 90FPS to about 20
Your drivers seem fairly recent too.. you did disable Medal and closed any other applications that might be scheduling GPU time in the background? (chrome, discord, etc)
Were the videos captured using DX12 or DX11?
DX11 the performance with DX12 was worse
Yh I even uninstalled medal
I've tried with discord close, chrome, spotify
@last hearth disabling lumen seems helping me for getting rid of fps drop/micro stutter, but still its not 100% clear, i'd say it lessen it by 60-70% of time before vs after disabling lumen
thanks Dev, im still hoping for 100% clear :) coz who wanna play game with stutter, especially at crucial time
Interesting.. Lumen should only be active for the lobby and never in game.. I’m surprised disabling is affecting in-game performance.
From the footage and graphs.. there definitely seems something going on with the GPU
@manic forum are your symptoms exactly the same as the ones posted above? GPU time dip after few hours? Do you have footage with perf graphs on?
Sadly i dont have
Maybe can we have fps capped on our typing number (we type fps we want that will be a cap/max fps limit)
Im using 7800x3d + 4070s
Im just curious why the microstutter keeps happening
I will try disabling lumen to see if its helps
It was already off, so issues remains the same
ah yes, it seems that its not 100% fixing
although after applying that, it was good and got lesser than before, but not permanent solution for this
