all of you are not open to ideas, Theorycraft devs are. I fully support @paper mural 's idea. I think they need to test out new things. As much as I love the game right now, player numbers are going down and they need to do something about it. A more contained mode would do wonders for the game. Right now there are so many things to learn it's overwhelming to a new player. But if there was an expanded Arena mode with lanes and stuff, it would give a sense of familiarity to players. So many League players came, saw and left because they didn't feel at home. And also, if Fortnite can have 2051252158219 modes, why not Supervive?

Continuing this topic here since you were shitting on him on the previous one. Yall can fight me and I'll defend this man till I die.

Fortnite can have millions of modes because it has the playerbase to support it.

yes lets add more game modes so the queues on the current modes take way longer

#

i want to see 1 hour queues

🙂

@gentle anvil @rain roost They would advertise them. With current marketing it'd be impossible ofc. But with proper setup it could 1000% work. Try to see beyond your tunnel please, there's more out there I promise. 🙂

If you disagree that's ok. It's called a discussion for a reason. But do understand that Supervive is important to alot of us. If player numbers keep dropping, it means something is off, be it the lack of updates, marketing or something else. We're just brainstorming ideas on how to save the game we care about.

what do you think clone mode is?

oak kiln

@severe rock A separate event mode. You are all crying about queue times when I suggest reworking Arena or adding a Moba mode, but are ok with Clone mode? 😄 Bit hypocritical, isn't it?

#

A new mode is a new mode, I don't understand your point

In fact I agree with you in principle - new modes, especially limited time can be a huge draw for new players.

I just specifically disagree with having tons of them as you stated in your fortnite comparison.

Supervive would be better off getting rid of duos than adding in more game modes imo

haha I appreciate this post, but disagreements or negative comments don't bother me. I wanted there to be discussion around the topic, we all will have different views to an extent, game development is based around teams of people for a reason. I think the game could certainly afford to trim the fat from game modes that are not performing well while making more robust versions of ones that are(like Arena). Several games have tried out experimental modes/mods that became insanely popular. If nothing else, be open to testing something new like this out and see how it goes as an event. Again though much love for the support, let's just make sure we keep communication healthy and non argumentative, fighting gets us no where.

A long time ago there was a MOBA called Master x Master (MXM) that had a similar playstyle in that it was a twin stick style MOBA. The game had the standard 5v5 three lane map, but it also had smaller arena modes that were like 2v2,3v3,4v4 or such. The idea behind these modes is it played as a TDM with protected spawns, allowing players to fight and learn their characters in a space that was low stakes. It really helped me find characters I enjoyed and then eventually gave me the confidence to move into the normal modes. I think ovjective based modes on smaller maps could work for this game, and while I understand some peoples concerns of it taking away from other queues, I feel it could help people get a better feel. Taking a look at other competitive games like League or even Valorant and CS2, they offer more casual low stakes modes while still supporting a healthy amount of players in their staple modes (SR for League and the normal S&D for CS and Val.) These modes also allow people to learn champions, characters, guns, etc and prepare them for the more sweaty aspects of the game.

I think battle royale asks for too many people fucking up the queue times and player retention. Also having 2v2 and 4v4 makes it even harder, especially when u add a third mode which is clone. Not so smart

@unreal nebula From a new player perspective, if my first game mode was Arena I would quit and never come back after being bombarded with 30 ults in 2 seconds.

I don't really feel Arena is a great starting point for new players. Its good for learning how a team fight can play out, but it gives about as much opportunity to learn ones character as the standard mode does. One idea to make the BR more approachable could be beginner lobbies that are duos only, smaller circles, and like 20 teams instead of 40. This way it's faster, gets people more of a feel for drops and combat while also showing tips maybe? Make it like ten games of this then people can move to normal matches? Could pad it out with bots too if needed and it could work since once done with the ten games for example you can't go back into that lobby type.

I think the biggest issue with the proposal of new 5v5 modes is players instantly think of the 4v4 mode we currently have in Arena which is extremely watered down and basic, which makes most people say "I wouldn't want a game mode like that". But just because a new game mode would be 5v5 doesn't mean it has to be anything like our current Arena. You could have a dramatically larger map, creeps, meaningful and unique objectives, Abyssals with buffs, level progression throughout the match instead of starting max lvl, reasons to split up/lvl for small fights for more individual agency. It could be a very in depth mode if TC took the time to flesh it out properly. Something more controlled like this also helps solve the queue issue while offering a mode that is substantially different if you choose to focus on 2 modes. 40 players per lobby is just too much with the current size and it causes even more issues with the way ranked is currently structured. Making a mode 5v5 doesn't mean turning it into OW or League either.

I feel right now we have a few too many modes that aren't really doing anything unique enough to be warranted in the short term. There will always be players that say "I love duo's/arena", but if those modes cause issues for the main mode, while simultaneously not being unique enough to draw and retain enough new players, I feel like an adjustment needs to be made. Personally i'd redo Arena into a new more in depth 5v5 mode with a much larger map and it's own unique gameplay, temporarily scrap duos until player count is higher, reduce BR lobby size to 24-28 and reduce map size by 20%, introduce ranked mode for the 5v5 mode while revamping how it works for BR(already in the works iirc). We also need new more unique hunters and content updates for BR if they stick with it as the main mode asap. TC has plenty of financial resources and developers according to them, they need to start using it, their pacing is too slow atm and our very first content patch after OB is laughable tbh. I understand though that they are probably in an assessment period to see what the next move needs to be. They showed very interesting concept artwork for future content/changes, they need to be expediting that cause it looked much better than what we currently have/they've released.
