#Custom AI API Keys
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hi @neat sedge. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
I'm sorry, but based on the knowledge sources provided, Warp does not currently support using custom AI API keys (such as for GLM 4.6 or other models) in its terminal. Many users have requested the ability to bring their own API keys or connect to custom/local LLMs, and there is an open feature request for this functionality. However, as of now, this feature is not available for individual users—Warp only allows "bring your own LLM" for Enterprise customers, and even then, the supported models are not specified to include GLM 4.6.
If you are looking for IDE or terminal support specifically for GLM 4.6 via your own API key, Warp does not currently offer this capability. The Warp team is tracking interest in this feature, and you can follow or upvote the relevant GitHub issue for updates: Option to add own LLM (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) API key.
If you need immediate support for GLM 4.6 with your own API key, you may need to look at other tools or IDEs that allow custom LLM integration, as Warp does not support this at this time.
Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:
@neat sedge Kapa.ai is still learning and improving, please let me know how I did by reacting below.
API keys are currently only allowed in Enterprise Subscriptions to comply with their company policies. Non-Enterprise users have no way to use their keys for any AI at this time.
I’m unfamiliar with GLM but if they do something similar to “Claude Code” you can use that interface with your key/access to get around this while still in Warp.
Interesting , I been looking for an IDE who does, and works really provide performance and options to customise . because I'm a Streamer and in middle of build a big project for my fans
openRouter maybe you mean? or openAi
you have to enter customs url And model manually
I personally use VS Code, but that doesn’t fit the requirements you’re stating, but it’s a nice IDE… (Warp does not currently integrate into it though)
I mean, Warp itself doesn’t allow that directly for non-Enterprise users… but I use Claude Code for example that ties to my Antropic account so I can use that inside Warp… other than that one I’m unsure of any ways to do it currently
I assume claude code is a cli?
Yes
this way you'll lose the built-in features
I believe Gemini and OpenAI (ChatGPT) have ones as well, but I hadn’t tried those… and I don’t have paid keys for ChatGPT (I do for Gemini though, but I didn’t want to deal with Node and the other setup required)
Not entirely… you can do kind of a Hybrid with CC where you can ask ‘it’ stuff, but you can still navigate and use Warp features for other stuff
I see , well thanks 🙂
Your best bet if you want to go that route, either CC or if you decide on Gemini, or if ChatGPT does have it…
You can do a split pane in Warp and use the tool in one and your other work in the other from the same directory location… especially until you get used to what the AI can and can’t do specifically for you…
Again, since you mentioned GLM, I’d check there first if they have any CLI interface
I don't think they have cli interface, everyone uses CC
Not promoting or endorsing CC, but they did recently change it… it used to be you had to have a Paid account and pay additional for CC… now it ties to the regular paid account so you don’t have the additional payment
