I was looking forward to try Warp on Windows. Tried to install and get «Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted. Error 5: Access is denied.»
I tried the usual: run as administrator, check the security on the tmp folder, moved the temp folder (and changed the env variables and rebooted), tried with winget.
Googled for this error - no fix. Searched the Issues, the Discord. No success.
Help!?

Hi @raven dove. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

I apologize for the installation difficulties you're experiencing with Warp on Windows. Based on the information provided in the knowledge sources, I can offer some insights and suggestions:

  1. Warp for Windows is a relatively new release. As mentioned in the Warp blog post, it was recently made available for Windows users.

  2. The error you're encountering ("Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted. Error 5: Access is denied.") is not specifically mentioned in the provided knowledge sources. This suggests it might be a new or uncommon issue.

  3. You've already tried several common troubleshooting steps, which is good. However, since these haven't resolved the issue, it may be a more complex problem.

  4. Given that this appears to be a persistent issue, the best course of action would be to report it directly to the Warp development team. They can investigate and potentially provide a specific fix.

Here are some steps you can take:

  1. File a new GitHub issue: You can create a detailed bug report on the Warp GitHub Issues page. Be sure to include your system details, the exact error message, and the steps you've already taken to troubleshoot.

  2. Join the Warp Discord: As mentioned in one of the knowledge sources, there's a Warp community Discord where you might be able to get more immediate support or connect with other users who may have encountered similar issues.

  3. Check for antivirus interference: As suggested in one of the GitHub issue comments, check if your antivirus software might be interfering with the installation process.

  1. Try an alternative installation method: If you haven't already, you could try installing Warp using WinGet as mentioned in the Warp documentation:

    winget install Warp.Warp

If none of these steps resolve your issue, the best approach would be to wait for a response from the Warp development team after reporting the issue. They may need to investigate and potentially release a fix for this specific installation problem.

Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:
