saves is for character saves
ah ok
backups i believe are just copies of existing files in the various folders
all .pugbackup files are the backups for their corresponding file
then how would i implement the backup?
move 0.world.gzip somewhere safe like desktop just in case and then remove the .pugbackup from the name of the backup so it just reads 0.world.gzip like the normal one
but judging by the datestamps it may have already saved when the last world save occurred
i made a copy of my world as soon as i alt-f4ed when the boss destroyed my entire base ๐ญ
sincei had no idea how to fix it i figured that was the best i could do, having experienced terraria
these data stamps are new, i havent touched my copied files
i went back into the world and went back to see if everything was destroyed
so most likely ill drag the backup file from my copy
and move these files ontop my desktop
then rename the backup and that should do the trick right?
as long as it has 0.world.gzip the game will read that as the world file and create a new .pugbackup on load
just have to cross your finger the .pugbackup you have doesn't have the boss damage saved to it yet
one is just an earlier backup / save
the one you hurridly made a copy of is the earliest version of the backup
the one in the game save directory looks to have been more recent
i appreciate all of your help. turns out the copy worked, however the world saved as soon as i closed it after i died and the boss had destroyed everything. unforunate and will probably just try and recover as much as i can
thanks again you were a huge help
no problem and sorry things saved so quickly ๐
