limitations without reason is bad game design, pso2 works because there're a lot of movement PAs baked into the system. NGS do not have those

adding pp cost is not limitation done right, it'll only hamper player's flow

It's a bad take for a reason I don't expect you to understand and as I said if it's done right it could be a good thing.

That's simply a balancing tool based on risk vs reward that most arpgs use. But I'm not gonna sit here and pretend they'll change how the game works after 5 years of repeating the same formula anyways goodnightrappy

there’s also benefit in not belabouring the most boring part of the game - traversal. Nothing happens except occasionally fighting the ledge collision boss

#

plus we’d all just go find a gradual pp gain/fortitude/whatever weapon and sacrifice a weapon slot for that nowadays, which I’m not sure is really improving anyone’s experience either

I'm not sure if that would even be a problem with the current state of the game. Most classes haven't had pp issues ever since retem or kvaris. Now we have twice the pp and only a small increase due to custom tech arts

#

But open world exploration would suck a lot lmao

It's simply that moving fast is better than moving slow. In order to compensate the advantage many games add a limitation

#

But I'm not really arguing or interested in changing how movement works in any case

#

I can see how everyone is just used to how the game works and it'd be weird to change it

the post is specifically about photon dash, which really only sees use in the open world. Combat we’re mostly using PA’s to get around anyway

i would agree if it's a slow and deliberate combat like MH/dark souls, idk if it fits with wide spaces and constantly flying/teleporting enemies in ngs

if you want to talk about like stamina meters and dodging (something that most games agree is good) that’s another topic

pliant timber
#

Yeah i agree with that

i dont really know what this is supposed to accomplish besides making the open world feel like a slog, the game isnt designed for deliberate positioning/pacing like an older MH game or a fromsoft special

#

where limiting your movement with a timer/meter makes sense

#

what purpose does it serve to make me stand around while i gather fruit or daily cash in the OW exactly...?

#

if anything photon dash is the compromise from base between the movement havers and have nots; in theory, everyone has the same movement options so you dont have to balance around one class having ilzonde/safoie zero and basically infinite PP and then classes that have to use the gunblade travel on global since we never got asagiri katana

Everyone seems to have forgotten there's an add on skill that clashes with this idea. If we had photon dash cost pp, it just mess things up
