I don't have strong feelings either way, but I feel this is kinda personal. The vast majority of players don't take it that seriously and the situation of ex: a top 5 player who isn't proud of their performance also isn't that common I don't think (as someone who has been there in the past)

Honestly, hiding times is probably a bad idea, even if you don't participate.
It's like asking for the 0.0001 seconds arks records using exploit to be able to grind the quest freely with no one finding out or being able to report it.
And on the topic of being demoralized, honestly, don't, it's more of a personal way to experience loss, but if you see better records than yours, you should think of "i could be better" over "I'm bad and I can't never be bad"
Also, you have to realize arks records is more of a budget race over a skill race.
Like, sure, skill is also involved, but the top players also have gear that can't just be obtained by the budget constrains of most players

Again, if you leave the quest before finishing it you don't gain resources for farming it.
If you had an option to toggle it off you can just abuse the explot a whole week.
Arks records not only rarely does something new once every like 8 months.
You can literally grab for any other arks records previous runs, the run the same.
The things you do are the same. Legendios II opener, wix/unwix weapons will always be the meta, abandac will be the meta if you have the money.
If you don't know that in the first place, you aren't caring on participating in arks records anyway.
It's not like bujin has changed since the last time it was on arks records.

just dealing with this hypothetical too, someone could spend the whole week working on this super secret awesome strategy in practice mode and reveal the time on the last day. I'm not sure that makes the arks record situation better either, in the current way you get a notice that someone has some sauce that you don't and that if you want to compete maybe you're missing something important about the fight

I would love to be able to opt out of leaderboards. I never liked leaderboards or anything to with them. I consider that type of competitive play toxic and thus degrades my enjoyment, this leaves me locked out of some content but it is only a game so oh well.

even though I frequently show up in top 100, I just play to have fun, and to improve myself in classes that I have less confidence in. I've accepted that there's almost always a top dog somewhere else that will get better placements, either due to time commitment (crit fishing wew), better gearing options, or just being more skilled than I am. I'm not going to lose sleep over not spending a ludicrous amount of money for that slight edge in ARKS Records
as for the "why" part of the OP, I only ridicule someone if I believe they're cheaters. at least for the ship I'm on, that's very rare. on the contrary, I have used ARKS Records a few times to correct a few alliance mates about their preconceived notions that certain "whales" were all talk and no play, when in fact said "whales" do very well in combat-based ARKS Records

Everyday I AFK next to my top 10 friend, who dress in bunny suit and do bunny dance. there is no cruel and terrible... not in a terrible way.

I totally understand the anxiety argument, or people who just don’t want to interact with leaderboards at all.
In this particular case there’s an alternative farming quest for people who don’t want to engage with the leaderboards and the game doesn’t ask anyone to do the ranked one at all unless you want the ranked rewards. I think the format is fine from that perspective this time

I’m trying not to be harsh here, but I feel that if you’re in a situation that a friend or alliance member is ruining your reputation (whatever that happens to be) over an ARKS Record placement you may be putting yourself in those situations
maybe I’m naive but it’s just not normal to treat people who you want to have a long term relationship with like that

i actually wasn't aware on all of this social pressure and anti competitive behavior(nothing exactly new in esports). im just enjoying the game. i thought someone from arks league(top 1) actually upvoted this but no. i need more sleep 💀 but anyways you prob wanna consider enjoying the game even if that problem exists..
