This second chapter is about strenghts, weaknesses, and strategy.
II. Strengths, Weaknesses, and Strategy
-
Strengths - It is important to have a variety of strengths in you ship in netquel for it provides an advantage in the game. Some ships are better than others in netquel so you need to learn what is strongest.
a. Speed - When looking for a strong ship, speed is the biggest factor in a ship. Being able to outrun or chase your enemy provides a more reliable playstyle. Not only that but having a high speed allows for more coverage on the map. Some players intentionally choose fast ships to scout out enemy players nearby and provides the intel to their teammates.
b. Manueverability - Being able to out manuever your enemys is important for suvival in netquel because buying a couple of seconds for yourself can be what ends up saving you from certain death. Some ships, like the agility miner, have great manueverability and can be used both offensively AND defensively.
c. Fire Power - Of course, having powerful weapons helps with a ship BUT only when combined with both speed and manueverability. It is important to keep this in mind as most high fire power ships are heavy and slow. -
Weaknesses - Most ships have a vital weakness that you must understand to keep safe.
a. Side and Rear Defenses - Side and rear defenses are often overlooks and usually lead to the downfall of players, understanding the defenses of your ship is important to staying alive.
b. Ship Capability - Every ship can only do some much against other ships, make sure you keep this in mind when attacking other players for best chances of success. Some ships are best used close range, others long range, so make sure you are using your ships capabilty as much as you can without over estimating your ship.
c. Knowing the enemy - As simple as it sounds, understanding who your playing against can provide a significant advatage. It can often help you stay alive for some players are known for being powerful so when you see one of these "strong players" you should probably go the other way. -
Strategy - The way you play netquel and how you use your knowledge on the game to you advantage is important in netquel because understanding is key.
a. Staying in groups - As simple as it sounds, being around your teammates gives you a flat out advantage over other players and that advantage is what it takes to stay alive. These groups have more depth and there will be complete detail in chapter III of my tips!
b. Flanking - All ships have weakpoint and most of their weakpoints is their flank. Atacking the flank of somebody gives you an advantage for they will lose more vital peices than you and will have low fire power against you.
c. Speed - Having a fast ship allows you to shift locations more rapidly which is important. It also allows you to escape from bad situations. This could be life saving or life ending if you use speed against others. The faster player often wins for being able to get better positions than the other throughout battle.
d. Countering - Certain weapons counter others which can lead to and advantage or disadvatage for either side.
Drills - Super low range while having super high damage.
Lasers - Limited range with consitant damage. Destroys rockets.
Rockets - Rocket projectiles that home in on enemies. Decent damage and range but easy to avoid/counter
Magnets - Pulls your ship to the object (if any) in range of the magnet.
Guase Rifle - Slow fire rate but high range and damage. Very situational since the recoil slows the player down.
e. Communication - Letting your team know where other players are and where you are is vital to keep everyone alive. Communicating also allows the team to build safely and coordinate strong attacks. This also can be important to build relationships with other players and making friends!
