Maybe not movement, but everything else for 5 seconds or so would work. 🙂
Preventing movement sounds a bit harsh. I like the rest of the idea though 😃
next update will take multiple steps to limit spawnkilling, including possibly modifying the spawn protection system

Preventing anything sounds quite a drastic measure. I would suggest a different approach: make so freshly spawned ships can neither take or deal any damage, without preventing it from moving and firing. Also would be a QoL improvement if some kind of hue of red (or any other) color would be applied on whole spawned ship.
There could be some prerequisites to fulfill for the ship to lose its spawn-protection:
- 10 seconds passed (any number of seconds adjusted for balance)
- No other ship (except allied) is in a certain radius of spawn-protected one
But seeing this makes me doubt squirrel will consider this idea of mine 😁
Well I mean that no hostile ship or sub should be in a spawn protected ship or sub radius in order to disable spawn protection

you're right. any negation of damage should not allow a low level to gank a high level
this can be accomplished in a few ways:
- the damage negation is conditioned on being in the shallow water area, so large ships "opt in" to the risk
- it could go away if the small boat is approaching the large boat (but not if it is fleeing or can't see the large boat)
maybe spawn protection untill you fire a wepon or move?
the current spawn protection is a linear ramp from 0% to 100% damage over the first 30 seconds, snapping to 100% if you fire a weapon. the movement-based idea is interesting, tho
I would suggest about moving-based spawn protection disabling, since other ships can just camp on a prey 😄

that's a valid concern that solutions to spawnkilling will have to take into account!
will people camp though? i havnt seen much of it if they do
people respond to incentives. right now there is no incentive to camp.
