There's a feature on Spotify called autoplay. When you search a song, Spotify will automatically play a song that is automatically recommended based on the song you listen to. But when you don’t have premium it automatically plays a random song on shuffle. It’s really hard to explain how this works because you can’t really anticipate it.

I didn't know nothing about this, I really don't get into the company business cause it's not my job to do that , my job to support the groups.
Yea i got really confused because i don't use the application so i went to here to understand from you guys
Are there actual accusations or just this one tweet? I’m confused.
Spotify recommends songs based on your listening patterns.
This is not even that serious, newjeans is a new group....
That's called an algorhythm
Yup
Well i just saw this tweet so i wondered what you guys think. I needed to create a topic in here because it's a serious allegation
There’s another tweet about this but it's in another language
As i understand people just confused why algorithm recommend this song so often even tho they don't even listen to group. I don't know how it works so it might be baseless and out of trolling but i also got really confused.
You don’t have to listen to a group to get recommended a group on Spotify. Like I could be listening to NCT and if auto play is on a song by another K-pop boy group might play.
I see 🤔
It’s just like any other algorithm on social media so if the people complaining actually use Spotify I don’t understand what all the confusion is about.
Yea it's like YouTube Shorts recommending the videos we don't even have interest or we just don't like
But in this case the user was listening to aespa so why is newjeans playing next strange?
Another K-pop girl group…
Yea the audience is really similar
Exactly as you said with the NCT example
Its not like recommending new jeans while you're listening to idk slipknot. I was just really confused because people act like it's a strange and abnormal thing to happen and 5000 people liked. So i tought it would be best to ask you guys.
I don't think it's a bad thing if hybe and spotify working together idk-
That’s not entirely true tbh because it depends on how popular a song is
NewJeans is getting a Lot of popularity though. And that's understandable.
Smaller artists, when they don't have a lot of songs
Normally when ppl play Newjeans music or music of artists similar to Newjeans, Newjeans gets recced more and appears more in Spotify made playlists
So even if you play artists like lesserafim or Ive, you get recced a lot of Newjeans along with those groups because of the whole “similar to” system they have
Yeah
Right
So i guess the whole thing is new jeans haters trying to create chaos right?
If it wss i will delete this topic because it's unnecessary at this point
Yea or they don’t really get how Spotify recommendations work
