in other words, the modloader changes how the game loads stuff making it look for files within a folder called "blue". If the files or the "blue" folder itself doesn't exist, it falls back to load things as intended by the game devs: from the original game's data file

well, here is a thing to try: on Steam, go to Library, right click the game then Properties (or Manage > Properties, I can't recall exactly). Look for something like Launch options and put -dx12 in there

Helloo I hope this is the right channel but I downloaded a mod for the melanistic feature and I noticed that my character is just blue in the fave while the rest of the body is not, and its looks like this?? Is it normal?
It doesn't have this separation on the female body but on all other skin colors its almost as if from the collarbone and up theres a lighter hue than the rest of the body.
The female body's melanistic color also isnt as dark as the one on the male one so idk whats going on really pain

I think the skin fix for the nakey mod messes up the melanistic one. I use both cause I wanted to eventually help my friend mod his and he would probably like the melanistic ones color.

Nope the only mods fpr the navis i have are the better bioluminescence, albino (for the eyes and hair) male tail wrap, movie accurate eyes and melanistic. and i didnt have the seperation with the albino mod i had before i dowloaded the melanistic recently so it appeared after which is odd

im new to modding and nexus so im not used to the search feature there but ive looked at the nexus library and is there only one melanistic mod? ive only found the one i downloaded so it wouldve been nice to have tested out a second one or something but it doesnt look like it pensive_cowboy

Looked into it, the melanistic and albino mods indeed clash. You probably could get around this by changing the "002" at item_customization_player_skin_color_002.blueitemtype of the albino mod to "004", as the mod's maker probably intended (the mod's descriptions says 004)

yeah i suspected that to its just weird that a tail wrap would alter the skin hues the way the albino did by lightening it but YEA yeah i deleted that file aswell but it didnt help pensive_cowboy
i DID however nuke the entire blue folder and that fixed it so kjdfg i guess i will have to rebuit it mod by mod starting with the ikran skins to see exactly what skin mod was messing things up SIGH (even by the fact that it was only the male models affected it was probably the tail wrap)
i will try what you Kxarmi suggested and edit the number for the hair/eyes later so the albino/melanistic are not both changing eycolor nr1 or so and so

Just a suggestion, feel free to ignore: I'm not a modder so I don't know if it's possible but making the stripes far less visible would be way more realistic to the clan than just desaturating

As this coloring comes from them coating themselves in ash (they are actually just regular forest blue under it, they're not actually greyish), their stripes get covered almost completely by the ash

I only suggest this because I'm actually highly interested in getting mods in the future and this is one I'd be interested in to make an accurate character but personal taste, I understand, and can be ignored

Limited in what we can do, can't really just spawn new items out of nowhere.

We can swap models, so like theoretically could turn all hammocks into campfires, but they would be purely visuals
