i have downloaded and installed cider on my iphone, connected via the help menu and everything is fine. i see the red dot in front of the PC and the phone is visible on the desktop app as well, but what next, how do i access the UI? i don't see any controls.

apologies if it is a truly dumb question but i just can't seem to figure it out.

i mean how do i use it? how do i control the music?

#

i'm here, what do i do next??

#

i understand this is weird question maybe, i'm lost 🥲

is this still true?

Not a requirement, and the Remote should be available publicly in the future. At the moment, the Remote infrastructure is down and therefore the iOS and Android remotes are disabled.

goddamn

#

i thought this was a local connection so it didn't matter, just to confirm is this my ISP's double-NAT biting me again?

opaque coral
#

depending on how your PC is setup and or plugged in

#

WAN should mitigate it as we use a special tunnel to make it happen rather than a generic port forward

modern monolith
#

That's why i have to either use zerotier or cloudflare zeroturst to access my server from outside my network

#

double NAT is no fun

modern monolith
#

and you are correct, it is working fine with WAN

#

worst part is i can't even pay premium to get por-forwarding, they just straight-up don't allow it

opaque coral
#

Yeah thats pretty typical with cable especially

modern monolith
#

or i can get a corporate connection

opaque coral
#

Maybe should look at the FTC broadband map to see if you have fiber in your area that you may just not know about (if you're in the US)

#

All service providers legally have to disclose where cable and fiber is established so if they're making strides in your area you'd know.

#

i'm in india i do have fiber at my home, there are 4 fiber operators in my area.
airtel and jio (i have the later one) don't provide port forwarding
local fiber: they don't have good service, lines keep breaking and bs like that

Ah, interesting

#

Must be just the general state of corporate corruption and what not down there.

modern monolith
#

i've had next to no downtime on my jio connection except when a tipper truck literally ripped a line down the street

opaque coral
#

I hear about it a lot.

#

it def is, also most people don't care

#

computer usage has plumetted over here ever since the "4G revolution" back in 2016-18

#

I believe it

modern monolith
#

well, thanks for the help tho

#

i was about to lose my mind, swiping every which way try to get the UI to load up on the app 😭

opaque coral
#

No problem.
