Is the only way to get Cider via MS Store, Winget and Chocolatey?

winget downloads exes from our GitHub repo

#

we share 1.x executable files for Windows (.exe), Snap, deb, dmg, pkg etc

but there doesn't appear to be a portable executable? (ik i forgot to mention this in the post)

I guess you can copy Cider files everywhere you want

#

but Cider will generate config in %appdata%\Cider everytime

Is it a technical limitation?

#

Seems kinda odd since this doesn't really hook up to any system components in a way that would require administrator

brave bison
#

if you install it for only user.

exactly. Which is why I think it would be fairly easy to make a portable exe version of the app.

I don't see a reason to make it portable, but y'know

dim sapphire

yeah I mean if there's nobody using it then it's probably not worth the time

#

I'd assume though that it isn't too hard to do, but I have not taken a closer look at the source code on how Cider handles the data files so idk
