Hi, is there a compatibility chart for the Marketplace against Spotify versions?
For example: Marketplace compatible with Spotify this version to that version
Thx

placid acorn
#

Compatible with all versions Spicetify is

#

If Marketplace can't load then it's a CLI issue

#

If themes/extensions from Marketplace breaks then it's that theme/extension issue (most of the time)

versed shore
#

aslong as spicetify can inject and run these custom apps

#

marketplace will work regardless of version

#

provided hooks arent broken for that specific spicetify release which is rare

placid acorn
#

Basically what I just said but sure ig

late igloo
#

Ok, so Marketplace is automaticly compatible with any new version of Spotify as long as the hooks aren't broked.
Thx for info, i think that it could be nice that the Marketplace main/initial dev add a not on the main page of the github about compatibility that Marketplace is theorically compatible with Spicetify and Spotify 👍🏻

placid acorn
#

It's a given

#

We won't be adding it to the wiki/readme

#

I summed it up in one sentence how simple can it be

versed shore
#

because at the end of the day its third party

placid acorn
#

you can't do much about it tbh

#

plus Marketplace compatibility has never been an issue nor will it ever be

#

if other Custom App works then it works, so it's not a Marketplace specific issue but hooks-related

versed shore
#

Putting it in the install section doesn't make it sound very optional

placid acorn
#

if they chose to click on the copy button instead of reading then

#

idk

#

their choice

placid acorn
#

This is the equivalent of repeatedly clicking “Next” and “I agree” on an installer

versed shore
#

they are bundled in one code section dude

#

unless you know what you are looking for

#

the will run both

placid acorn
#

like bro

#
  • Description
  • 2 different codes
#

y'all just click on this shit

#

and call it a day

#

Instead you can read, and copy the line you need and run it

#

But that has never happened

versed shore
#

people just copy and run lol

#

like 99% of people

#

hence why i said its deceptive

placid acorn
#

Would you say “I agree to ToS” is deceptive then

#

This is even optional

placid acorn
#

You click on “I agree” without knowing what it even is

#

And then go ahead and blame the devs

versed shore
#

Gonna make a pr putting easyinstall above those

placid acorn
#

It's not the same dev team maintaining it glhf getting it passed alfons

versed shore
#

Cry ig

placid acorn
#

why would I

versed shore
#

Cause you are a shitter

placid acorn
#

I tell other people to shit on you I have never done such a thing myself

#

y'all accusing shit

versed shore
#

I don't think it's right to put in the install section, it does not contribute to installing spicetify, and the ps1 marketplace uses constantly creates issues

#

It's third party

versed shore
#

And Charlie is abusing both this discords popularity and the wiki to get installs

placid acorn
#

or that the first script fails to install Spicetify correctly

#

and then the 2nd one throws a shit ton of errors

versed shore
#

Nah

#

The marketplace theme file

#

Is what fucks shit up

#

I've seen it

placid acorn
#

cry ig

versed shore
#

Can't find theme 'marketplace'

placid acorn
#

it's the same frequency as prefs path

#

thing breaks when it does things it is not intended to

placid acorn
#

official extension is not the same as third party

#

easyinstaller is not from the same Spicetify team thus is third party

versed shore
#

It's not official lol

#

If charlie wants it to be

#

He should integrate it with spicetify

placid acorn
versed shore
#

Nah

placid acorn
#

The whole team is responsible for it

#

Not him anymore

versed shore
#

3 people are

placid acorn
#

Same goes for themes

#

If it’s under the theme repo we have to deal with its sht

#

The whole team

versed shore
#

Nah

placid acorn
#

Since we bare responsibility in maintaining it

versed shore
#

Until you fix marketplace it's third party

placid acorn
#

Cry lmao

versed shore
#

Just causes issues for no reasonpl

#

People see it under install

#

Assume they need it

#

Install it

#

Get fucked over with a broken app

placid acorn
#

Go tell companies and teams how to pack their installer ig, we ain’t forcing shit

#

Every installer does the same thing

#

They assume something we wrote otherwise

versed shore
#

"we aren't forcing them, also we are gonna put in in the install tab to make it seem like it's a requirement to those who are newbies"

#

Smort

placid acorn
#

Make it seem like

#

Bozo read lmfaoo

versed shore
#

L

placid acorn
#

Have fun getting fucked by every Privacy Policy and ToS you have ever agreed on without reading then

versed shore
#

Cry

#

I'd say taking advantage of people unkowing of what they need to get spicetify up and running is scummy

#

Especially with an app as unimportant as marketplace

#

Which breaks themes constantly

placid acorn
#

Bet you agree on getting newsletters also and then unsubscribe later on

versed shore
placid acorn
#

It does things so people don’t need to

#

Same as your Easy Installer

versed shore
#

You don't need marketplace

#

Lol

placid acorn
#

They don’t know shit about using the CLI

versed shore
#

If I auto applied marketplace it would be the same shit

placid acorn
#

They just run the app

#

You using “unknowing what they need to get it running” as a rebut but then creates a tool that does everything

#

Oh wait

#

That’s every single tool

versed shore
#

I only install what is required.

#

I don't apply a random customapp that barely works.

placid acorn
#

Cry lmao

versed shore
#

I will

#

Tyvm

#

Also kinda funny marketplace has just as many bugs as easyinstall with 5 people working on it lol

placid acorn
versed shore
#

Despite js being the superior lang

versed shore
placid acorn
#

Show me then

#

Which one is open atm

versed shore
#

Look at support posts

#

You still need to help people though lol

placid acorn
#

Golang is faster than Python also lmaoooo

#

It don’t matter shit lol

versed shore
#

English?

versed shore
placid acorn
#

Ain’t you just said JS is superior and still has bugs

versed shore
#

It was sarcasm.

placid acorn
#

So was it

versed shore
#

Cause you guys always shit on python lol

#

Saying js is 'superior'

placid acorn
#

Nah Python is shit but JS isn’t “superior”

versed shore
#

Python based

#

Anyone who says otherwise is coping

placid acorn
#

For loop moment

versed shore
#

You have for loops in most langs lol

placid acorn
#

Yeah but Python can’t even run them as fast as the others

versed shore
#

Or while loops which are even worse

placid acorn
#

I am saying otherwise

versed shore
#

Python isn't exactly front end code lol

placid acorn
#

Now cope

versed shore
#

Speed isn't important

placid acorn
versed shore
#

Nah

placid acorn
#

Or API

versed shore
#

You need fast backend for fast frontend

#

If you have no frontend

#

You don't need a fast backend

placid acorn
#

Lmfaoooo

#

Cope

versed shore
#

I am

#

But it's true tho lol, if you aren't held back by a GUI that needs to be running fast

#

Then the backend speed doesn't matter

#

And even then you can get python fast enough that it doesn't matter

#

Without having to deal with bs electron apps or chromium apps or html
