What's your goal on YT? Views, growth, and income? Then you've not spent enough time on your channel's angle.
If it's just for fun, and something for your friends to watch, then yeah man, do whatever that's enjoyable for you.
It's also not a thumbnail. Phil already gave a good breakdown on rez.
What you said are 3 completely different niches.
Reddit story niche: Probably one of the most saturated niches right now from how automated it is.
Voice Acting Challenges: As in "story time about my challenge while voice acting on Invincible!" or "Attempting to recreate 100 famous voices with no experience!" challenge?
Let's Play channel: There's maybe like 3 channels I know of that are doing well in this niche and it's Let's Game It Out, Vanoss, and Markiplier (I'm sure there's more, but I hope you see my point that only super outliers are doing well). The other route to go in gaming that can do well is going all-in on one specific popular game, and being the absolute best at it. Minecraft is the perfect example. You have redstoners, hardcore world impossible builders, impossible challenge people, and much more.
Then you have to ask yourself: What person out there/ What audience member can I cater towards that would be interested in voice acting bits, reddit stories, and gaming videos, all at the same time? This is who YouTube is going to serve your channel's videos to. If you think that type of audience is less than the ammount you need to make a living doing YouTube, then you need to pick one and become the best at it you can be.
Thank you, this was very insightful. Honestly, I wanted all three of these niches to give my channel variety for my audience, which was intended to be teens and young adults. It's been three years since I uploaded anything on my old channel, and back then, I was a kid who just made Minecraft videos for fun. Now I want to develop my skills in voice acting and intend to create different types of videos to showcase them.
The gaming videos would showcase my range of different character voices through stories. The Reddit videos would serve as practice for how I narrate/storytell, and then I craft unique voice acting challenges to stand out. Basically, voice acting is the prime thing, just extended into two other niches to give my audience choices on what they can watch. Now that I've read your feedback, maybe I'll cut out the gaming niche and just go for the more vocal niches.
Here's another question for you. What's more important to you: Voice Acting, or YouTube?
