What type of feedback are you looking for? Where are you looking for improvement

well one thing i’m constantly thinking about is that “is this the right content to make?”. i know i want to make entertainment based videos but it’s hard to know if this is what people actually want to watch. i’ve heard this thing so much that “research your audience before making videos” but i’m really worried that i’m still choosing the wrong types because with entertainment it’s way harder to know. for example if you make videos where you teach sth, it’s way easier to figure out if that’s something that people actually are seeking for or not. but with entertainment it’s really difficult. so that’s number 1.

and then just general feedback - how did you like the video, what was good, what should i improve, etc

First of all, I wouldn’t worry too much about the type of content. You don’t have to stick to just one specific niche. There are tons of YouTubers who are doing great without focusing on a single type of content. People watch their videos because they’re good, and the common thread between them is the YouTuber themselves—their personality, filming style, editing, or whatever makes them stand out.

#

First off, I just wanna say that I liked the video! And everything “bad” I’m about to say is exactly because that’s the whole point of this server—to point out the flaws hahaha.

#

I think 90% of the issues with your video come down to the idea itself. The "AI tells me to do 'X' for 'X' time" format has already been done tons of times in much more interesting ways than just deciding what meals you’ll eat for a day. And I’m not saying the format can’t work anymore, but for it to actually stand out, you’d need to make it way more interesting than just letting AI pick your meals for 24 hours.

I think you should spend more time brainstorming video ideas. A good brainstorming session can make a huge difference. I personally use a random word generator and try to come up with a few ideas for each word. If needed, dedicate an hour a day to it, but keep in mind that no matter how good your thumbnail, title, or editing is—if the idea itself isn’t strong, the video won’t get many views.

#

I don’t have much time right now, so I can’t do a full analysis of the video, but I’ll leave you a couple of details that (in my opinion) would make it a bit better—and they could be fixed in just 30 seconds:

#

First, the intro should’ve started at second 8 of your video—right when you say what you’re going to do. Even if it’s already in the title, that’s the moment where it actually hooks the viewer.

#

Another thing—when you ask ChatGPT something, I think it would look way better with a split-screen layout. One half showing the screen recording and the other half showing you typing on the computer while talking.

#

Those are just the first two random thoughts that popped into my head because I really gotta go hahaha. But if you want me to take a deeper look, let me know, and if I have some time tomorrow, I’ll do a more detailed critique—maybe even 5 minutes long hahaha.

# gray ocean yup, i know the video is mainstream but i'm always wondering that if i'm gonna c...

Thing is you don’t want to focus on the people who “searchs for content” most of these people are looking for tutorials or something really specific like that, your focus needs to be the person who gets your video recommended, imagine someone opens youtube and they see their home page and you video is in there, will your title and thumbnail be interesting/curious enough for them to click on it? That should be your main concern!

Ok i just finished watching the video and these are my top things i would like to point out:

  • I like the intro! Funny and to the point!
  • There are some parts of the video where you have ChatGPT window on a small part of the video while we can still see you, that definitely looks better than having ChatGPT on the whole screen AND ALSO i think we don’t have to see the whole response its kind of repetitive and gets rid of curiosity, imo it would be better if you ask the question to chat gpt and then maybe we just see your face with a “wtf is this” expression and then we get to the preparation part, i as a viewer would be like “what is she cooking now?!”
  • after lunch the food preparation scenes start to look way more professional and cool than the ones before! I’m not exactly sure why but its something definitely worth to pay attention to!
  • And last but not least, remove the outro, majority of people will drop off after the final meal, and adding extra seconds will kill your retention rate

I did like the idea of the video, and it was crazier than i thought it was going to be

# gray ocean well one thing i’m constantly thinking about is that “is this the right content ...

In regards to content I'd highly suggest you making videos that really interest you, rather than thinking too much about is this what people want to watch. If you're only halfway interested into what you are creating it's easy to tell and also you'll just burn out.

That's the beauty of being a smaller creator is that we have the flexibility to flip flop whenever possible. And you'd be surprised how supportive your audience will be if a video "flops" at this phase; so take the time to take risks.

For example Cleo Abrams makes videos on concepts I will never ever look for. But because of their enthusiasm It makes me interested in what they are interested in. I buy into the person rather than the topic. So my only advice here is make videos that excites you and don't overanalyze it; just make it the best you can.

Beautiful advice!

In regards to: "is this a good video" It depends on what you are trying to achieve. (i'm not talking about views).

Are you going for a route like a challenge video? and just documenting it? Are you trying to tell a story? Tutorial video?

I think the issue with this video is there's no clear 'goal' of the video for the audience to continue watching. What value can the audience get from watching. If you can answer that question clearly I think you'll have a banger video and the views will eventually come.

thanks for all the advice you've given me!!

well i would like to do challenges like these but to be honest, i want to tie it together with a story. this is my goal that i want to achieve, because storytelling is actually the thing that gets me excited. but it's not that easy. like i said, with entertainment based videos, it's harder to find that "goal or value" than, for example, a teaching/tutorial video. if you have any ideas on how to find a goal or the "why" in why people should watch this kind of content, then i'd love to hear your thoughts! like why do people watch others bigger creators do 24h challenges, or 7 or 30 day challenges and stuff like that

Personally for me I think the audience wants to connect with their favorite youtubers. It doesn’t matter really what the challenge is as long as they can “hang out with them”.

It’s tough because right now you’re trying to do a “how can i do the same thing as a big youtuber” but their videos and ours will be vastly different cause the audience and trust is different.

The why is what you want it to be. For your video with the same title the why could be whatever you want like:

  1. can ai make my diet healthier (maybe you deal with a bad diet)
  2. Can ai make me a better chef so i can make my family a nice meal (maybe u never made a meal for ur family and wanna do something nice)
  3. Can AI make me more nutritious meals than lunchily (it can literally be anything)

Ultimately the why is you. You have to create something important to you. No one else can define it for you

okay. you are right but somehow some of these big youtubers got big with making similar type of content. and that's my question – how did they do it...? i honestly don't want to copy people, but i am inspired to make similar type of content because that really does light me up. so i truely am constantly thinking of ways to make it my own. but like i said, it's not that simple 🙂

#

but will people care if i'm a no-name and make the "why" about myself?

I meant “how” sorry! How those youtubers started and what videos where they making when they initially blew up! Im pretty sure we can create amazing ideas without much money and if we find what they did when they didn’t have money, im positive we can find some inspiration in that!
