#Is this the best thumbnail and Title for a video like this? "Air mattress on a Lake!"
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
The air mattress is too small we can’t really understand what it is without reading the title
And I was wondering what the blue stuff is around you
I can help u with this thumbnail for free if u want ! Just DM me if u haven't finalised this thumbnail
Plus there should be a high pace bg music to make it more dramatic (like u gonna raft later in boat) and some glimpse of u falling off the mattress in the first 10 sec to intrigue the audience
Something like this, if given more time and angles of your face pics I can make it better
This sadly was one of the best photos or stills that I had while I was on the raft, so I'll need to reshoot this
I added this so that it was less blurry around the edges
I'm going to update this now
I think a top down shot of you holding the camera taking the photo would be really good, and no text is needed in that version. I mean a not edited thumbnail, except colours, but just clearly showing a air bed, in water.
Maybe you would need to edit it tho cos u ain't going back in the lake lol
I’m willing to go back into the lake for this I’ll just need to go there with a plan so I can do different ideas
I probably have a still that matches something like that I’ll try to send the best one I can find
Cool
These are two other angles I have
This one is great
The first one here is great too
What is your guy's opinion of the "24 HOURS" having a low opacity. And should I even have it at all? I think its adds a good bit to the thumbnail.
And what do you guys think about the red "MISERABLE" I really like this one but is it important to have "24 hours" somewhere in the title or thumbnail?
Blue stuff looks like fire or soemthing, if you do an outline glow make it clean even crisp line I reckon to highlight what's going on instead of distracting from it
There's too much distracting the viewer from the actual air mattress. I'd recommend getting a shot that shows the mattress much more visually then maybe you can motion blur the background.
And also Photoshop the rope attached to it away, just a bit confusing
This may be the final version
I’m going to make variations
I think it looks it really good, espacally the water. The only thing is that you look like an anime for some reason
Haha that was actually just the sun thats not edited besides saturation
I love that
Thank you.
Slightly higher resolution version
I think this thumbnail has come a huge way from where I started
I think we all would agree, but I also think most would agree it has a long way to go.
I'm still making other versions for an a/b test, what ideas do you have for this?
framing, title, and text in title need work
This isnt the current version
im talking about this one amigo
I have another idea for you, do you still have the air mattress? if so then go outside and take a bunch of pictures with different expression like help me or panic or whatever try different thing and see which one you want to click if you were the audience, if you want that is. maybe some top down shot but we already got it here so maybe more middle height shot to a/b test. then plop in to some water.
sincerly, salboiman.
ill try to be a little more direct with my suggestions now. I've been trying to lead you to rationalize to a conclusion and I guess I'm not that good at doing that lol.
so speaking to the title first, its not good at all. "Air mattress on a lake!" The viewer is gonna see that and basically be like "okay why should i care about that."
Your goal is to get the to click, obviously, a proven way to do that is to create intrigue. What I mean by that is creating a problem in their head that they want resolved. Again, a proven way to do this is usually with negative emotion. Ryan Trahan and MrBeast are good people to reference on this. Speaking specifically to your title, it does not create ANY intrigue.
Let me give you an idea on a title that is more directionally correct: "Surviving 24 Hours on an Air Mattress Raft"
There are some things to note about that title:
- It CLEARLY sets expectations to the viewer on what the video contains (your current title does this, so that's good).
- It has a strong word that paints a picture to the viewer FIRST. "Survive", this implies a struggle to the viewer. It will not be easy and you will struggle. The viewer WANTS to know this.
Moving to the thumbnail.
The emotion in your thumbnail SCREAMS "bored". The last thing I want to click on is something that looks boring. Taking the title I said above, you would ideally match that emotion with a position of discomfort. Look at MrBeast's "Surviving 7 Days Stranded at Sea" or whatever the title is. That thumbnail and title are EXCELLENT reference images.
Speaking to the words in your thumbnail. If you use text, usually you want what's called "complimentary text". Complimentary text adds more details that the title does not contain. So a title that says "I survived 7 days in the desert" could include complementary text that says "no water". That is an excellent title and text pairing. Complimentary text does not overlap at all with the title. In your case, there is no overlap, but its a terrible pairing. 24 hours should be in the title and a better complimentary text should take its place to increase the intrigue we create in the viewers mind.
Reason: Duplicated text
trash
I just spent a significant amount of time writing that message, please read what i said carefully. It is very good advice.
@rustic thistle Bruh don't be so technical, guy wanted to create a video of mattresses in Lake but now y'all training him like it's a documentary 😂😂😂 that got be factual, accurate and flawless, for God sake he enjoys making vdo let him do whatever he wants he don't got to be super professional in everything 😂😂
i said approximately 0 things about the content itself, only the title and thumbnail. he asked if this is the best title and thumbnail and the honest answer is no. I spent a fair amount of time crafting a well though and explanatory message just for you to come in and say not to do he literally asked for, I kindly ask that you don't share these kinds of thoughts because all they do is take away from me spending my time trying to help him get better. I am technical because I want him to understand and not be some robot who just does what people tell him. if he does these things well, he will get more views. for the sake of transparency, it upsets me when i get responses like this from you because all im trying to do is help and it feels like youre just undercutting what im trying to do.
you are in a discord which exists for the sole purpose of creators helping other creators make better videos, why are you even citicizing me for doing this, it is literally why this place exists.
I would like to add, that I am neither upset or angry at you, more so just disappointed that you keep responding to me like this.
I'm kidding bruv, just pulling yo leg
🙂
This thought was in the back of my mind, I kindly request that you stop these types of messages with me because its really impossible for me to tell if you're serious or not and I would prefer to reserve the mental real estate for work
If u see my message with emoji innit consider it a joke or don't even reply to it, and if u don't see a emoji then it maybe serious and I'll be really criticizing in real
i would really just prefer to get ahead of this kind of stuff.
it might just be a me issue
What kind of stuff
the "occupying my mind" because i cant tell
What's with it
what do you mean by that
Never mind I think u confused with something else
ait
Aight
haha that keeps happening to you 😂
A newer rendition, I may need to use a different body posture though
And use the title that you suggested, "Surviving 24 Hours on an Air Mattress Raft"
Starfish ftw
I think it would be much better if you removed the text and had a similar pose to the ryan trahan thumbnail of "I survived in a silent room" (I don't remember it's title exactly)
this one
Okay because it looked like something else
It looks like the background of the photo was blue and that it was poorly erased
Just telling you what I thougt
I like this angle ad concept more its bigger and clearer
