#How do you get the tags for your videos and what has worked the best for you?

From my experience, tags don't matter. I have 2 monetized channels, both of them don't have tags.
Exactly what I was gonna say
Hey Darckarian. When it comes to tags, make sure you’re using the correct amount. It’s usually suggested you use between 5-8. You also want to choose tags that are relevant to the type of content you’re doing. Try doing this and see if anything changes!
I only partly agree.

Tags can be important depending on the content you make. When you have a ranked tag in your video, it can be easier to find.
Ranked tags essentially are a metric telling you how much easier it is to find the video when something similar to the tag or your video title is searched.
#1 ranked tag means it would be one of the front page/top videos on the search page.
It can be important for tutorials, niche content, or branding.
Every single time I make a video I fill tags up with everything relevant to my video, to search terms that relate to the content, or something I said in the video.
It can help small channels be discovered.
My first video ever was ranked #6 tag for the challenge I made a video on, even though I had no subscribers.
That discovery skyrocketed it to a few thousand views and 400 subscribers. This is definitely an outlier, but it shows my point.
I would love to talk more about your niche, the content you want to make, and how tags would affect it.
yes, im currently doing fighting game content with the intention to expand later in videogames in general and later maybe anything i like to make a video about, thanks for the help
YouTube notes that tags play a minimal role: #1196405993752514610 message
but as a small channel should I pay more attention to them? because i guess they start being less important but only once you have a good following no?
YouTube answers this: #1196405993752514610 message
Tags are descriptive keywords you can add to your video to help viewers find your content. Your video’s title, thumbnail, and description are more important pieces of metadata for your video’s discove
Should you still be using TAGS on YouTube? If so, when and how should you be using them?

=============...
It's not imperative. Like this video says, YouTube doesn't need tags to find out what your video is about.... that's why it says that tags are mostly for misspelling now.
Why not do it, though if it doesn't hurt.
Exactly.... keyword from my first post is can help
In all honesty though, if you don't have the time or tools to make tagging easier... it's fine.
Tagging hasn't been relevant for like 6-7 years at this point, I think
but what are some good tools for example, like vidiq?
Don't waste your time – tagging only helps for commonly misspelled words.
