Has it reached the time where YouTubers with a large subscriber count are barely able to be recognized by their own subscribers? Shorts have obviously resulted in subscriber inflation but will we see creator events that barely have anyone showing up? And would it not be better for YouTube to change the subscribe button on Shorts to View Profile so that if someone is really interested in your channel they can go to profile and subscribe? Just my two cents tho 😅
#Shorts Subscriber Inflation

I’ve heard you say this before, and I 1,000% agree
This id why I don't post Shorts. I had a Shorts channel with 1k subs that would get 100 LF views at best, and I was actually getting more LF views on it BEFORE I started posting shorts (I had 23 subs then)
I look at massive Shorts channels like Cheeky Boyos that get disproportionately less views on their LF than Shorts ... and I feel like there must be something there. I wonder if it lowers the potential of their LF since their subs are not clicking/viewing?
There's this girl who does skits, I've seen at least 50 of her Shorts and I can't remember her name right lol
Josh Kreuger from Creator Now is a great person to keep an eye on I think! He blew up recently from Shorts, I'm curious to see how his future LFs perform
Interesting point but I don’t think there’s a world where YT would have a “view profile” button instead of subscribe in shorts because a) it takes people out of watching more versus clicking subscribe and b) subscribers were always a vanity metric to begin with compared to how many people in past 28 days watch your shorts. But I wouldn’t dismiss the value of shorts to bootstrap a channel as long as you use that to bring attention to your long form. YouTube is getting much better at recommending one format to the other and I expect the bridge between long form and short form recs will continue to get better
@spark seal I would still advice you to post shorts and here’s why; CocaCola is a big brand and has a shitton of loyal customers… but still spend lotta money on billboards just to let you know “hey 👋 remember me?” So if you use it as a billboard just to remind your subscribers that hey im still here don’t forget abt me… i guess theres no harm
@hollow rivet but don’t you think with the inflation of shorts subscribers there’s nothing to value a YouTuber on? Like even brands don’t know who to work with and who not to
So when will be we see a creator at VidCon with 10M subscribers and like 6 people in line
Yt has media kits for creators to share. The data go much deeper than just sub count.
If you really think about it, it’s almost the same thing for a LF creators. They kinda suck at making short form (compared to Shorts creators)
LF > SF all the way, but sometimes is hard for someone who only makes LF to do Shorts since it kind of goes against how LF works. Same with Shorts. Creators always think of faster paced, few second stories and is hard for them to make a longer piece of content.
With the crazy rise of Shorts, I think the battle now is trying to do both AKA Hybrid Creators AKA Ryan Trahan and Airrack AKA Alex The Grape 😉
People who wanna transition from TikTok to YT and those who do LF but wanna make SF to grow a following on other platforms. It’s all valid and this is just the beginning! Only a few people have been able to capture a big and loyal fanbase with SF, but they exist!
Omg I don’t even know what I was ranting about this whole time lol hope that made any sense
