#A Few Pedal Builds...

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a few pedal builds that I did this month. Two of them are going to eventually be production models, one is called the Summer Heat which is practically complete, I just need to change the resistor value for the LED, and the other one is called Submersion which I need to still work on. I've been playing around with it for over two years at this point and I'm still not sure what it's going to be. I need to test some other effects and try stuff out. I also realized I had an extra 125B enclosure from awhile back and decided to make a silicon Fuzz Face clone. The build quality for the FF turned out terrible which was totally my fault. Basically putting in components that didn't belong, then pulling them and bodging stuff. This also included soldering a cap to the Q2 transistor and soldering the transistor to the socket. It's a mess but it works. I never have an easy time with the circuit despite being able to draw it and lay it out from memory at this point. Anyway, this is my submission for MoRe25. Cheers!

What is the Submersion?

I've had nothing but trouble with transistor sockets. I guess they'd be cool for prototyping or something, but the one time I used them in a "real" pedal that I intended to play, I wound up hot gluing them in to keep them from falling out, and eventually ripped them out completely and just soldered the transistors in.

I know the reason but I miss when you shared your schematics here 🥲

the fuzz face seems more than alright to me, although i wouldn't have used a pcb. if you solder or remove the sockets i think there's nothing wrong

Oh, are you to the cloak and dagger portion of your building now? If you need generic marketing nonsense to throw people off the scent, look me up. I'll call it a quasi-transparent spectral tone sculptor that relies on the propagation of electro-magnetic flux to achieve a vintage yet modern soundscape.

Yeah they're somewhat useful for trying different transistors for example, but I don't think I'm going to be doing too much of that honestly. The Submersion as it stands right now is an octave fuzz. I want to add more to it but I don't know in what direction yet. I may just keep it as is but it feels a bit underwhelming.

I'll have to share a bunch of Spice files that I've drawn up over time. There's really only four schematics that I'm not willing to share and dozens that I am. As for the PCB, I had a coupon that I was able to order extra 3PDT daughterboards with, and I figured while I was at it I may as well make a proper FF. I think the cost was less then $3.

it's as much for the discussion for your sake and everyone's, than for the curiosity

I suppose I am being guarded about it but I work hard on these things and I think it leads to less complications. My attitude may change over time, we'll see.

@sinful escarp does seem to have a knack for writing in general 👍

I get it

I'm also underwhelmed by octave fuzz in general. I want to like it, and I hear actual guitar players doing cool things with it, but if I play with the knobs on one long enough, I get it to a point where you can't actually hear the octave. That's what I've been finding with a bazz fuss/ringer that I recently built, anyway. Very early on, I built a Superfuzz clone that I hated so much it isn't even mentioned on my site. The only one I kind of like is my foxx clone

I definitely suffered for this octave fuzz. It took forever to get it the way that I wanted and so I'm very happy with it. But as a pedal I'd like to add something more to it. I want four knobs and a switch as opposed to two knobs.
