#The Morita Igniter Fuzz has a JFET J201 that's been smoked in hot pepper for a spicier tone.

that's a transistor configuration I've not seen before

#

how does it sound

thanks for the schem, you anticipated me

oh lol it didn't show up as a video for me

So, one thing that I want to note is that the circuit has the J201, but in the assembling instructions and bill of materials they listed a PF5102 instead. I didn't had a 5102 at hand, but I had some J201 sitting around and after looking at the schematic I didn't think it twice.

I don't think it matters here

it's used as a diode, you can even put a diode there

#

that is if you bridge d and s

crude arrow
#

Wait, so, you are telling that I just threw a J201 there when I could have used a 3 cents diode?

opal wharf
#

...yes

crude arrow

Okay, so the clipping occurs in the MPSA13? if that's so. What other stuff can be plugged there instead? Will it matter?

opal wharf
#

the clipping is from the diodes mostly

#

so the j201 really

crude arrow
#

... so, at the end of the day the J201 wasn't wasted, becuase the clipping is happening there, right?

bjt one way, diode the other, just like in the bazz fuss. a diode would do the same because this is working like a diode and a small <1k resistor in series

opal wharf
#

it is behaving as a diode so the jfet is kind of wasted

#

repl;acing it with any other diode would make a very similar sound

but don't trust our words, if it's socketed you can just try! solder a piece of lead to a diode to make it three legged and swap it in
