#unisonwork - Hold Payment

Both credit card, ACH through an api initiated invoice in the connect model. We want one member to be able to pay another member with funds that are authorized by the bank.
We "platform" do not want to be responsible for refunding paid invoices if a customer uses incorrect payment information.
As the platform, what type of Connected Accounts are you using?
individuals worker getting paid by individual client. Connect / custom
Are you using Destination Charges or Separate Charge & Transfers?
Thats a great question. We are reading it now.
With destination charges, they don't transfer until the transaction settles. With separate charge & transfer, if you include the source transaction when creating a transfer the transfer will only go through when the source transaction settles
Although there is no way you as the platform can be independent of disputes arising from things like stolen cards or the like.
Even if we use direct charges are we liable?
Direct charges are not recommended for accounts other than Standard.
Can we modify the Standard form for onboarding to focus on individual users other then businesess?
No that's not how this system is intended to work.
Can we use "radar" to reduce fraud?
What does "settles" mean? In our app the worker submits an invoice to the client for payment.
Yes but the card issuer or bank does the actual funds transfer. In this case settles means the institution involved has approved the transfer and the money has landed in your (the platform's) account.
If someone pays another member using a fake credit card who is liable?
Do you have a tutorial that shows the onboarding process for the Standard form for an individual?
In the stolen card scenario, the platform is responsible for the dispute. An example would be Lift. The driver does not have anything to do with accepting the payment so they are not involved in the whole funds transfer process.
I would advise you to seriously review the matrix of Connect accounts here: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/accounts
to determine which account type best fits your needs
Thank you, we appreciate everything. We will read over the docs now.
It's a complicated landscape. I hope those docs clear things up!
