I just tried to attach another payment method and tried to simulate the billing cycle anchor to now
but I can not attach a payment method from which I can receive the error

Go to the subscription from the dashboard and click on the actions button and select update subscription, scroll down to advanced options and check reset billing cycle and then click update subscription
If you to test the past_due status, attach a 3ds payment method and make it a default payment method and then do the above
