I’m building a marketplace for food
Like Amazon, different seller’s products can be in the same shopping cart
So, I’ve to create accounts for every food producer company
And I will use the “separate charges and transfers” option
But, testing both account types, I’ve found no differences
You should only use separate charges and transfers with Express accounts
Why?
Standard connect accounts are meant to be used as separate standalone accounts, but using them with separate charges and transfers negates all those benefits. Typically with Standard + direct charges liability will fall to the connect account, but when you use them with separate charges + transfers it falls back to the platform
Reporting will also look very different - Standard accounts typically want all their volume on their own account (which they would get with direct charges) but with separate charges + transfers this isn't possible since the charges are created on the platform
What can be dangerous in using standard + separate charges..?
Is it only a problem to compute the fee before transferring money to connected account or other reasons?
Will it be a problem the reporting itself?
Please take our word that standard + separate charges is a bad idea
‘Cause our food producers will know that money showed in their dashboards will be the total of the order minus our platform fee and Stripe fee
theres a TON of things wrong with this flow, and we've had to help mutliple users deal with issues from this down the line
For example? I trust you, but I want just to understand better
