Hi, to get a hold on a payment, you would want to capture later: https://stripe.com/docs/payments/capture-later
Are you a Platform and are your service provider Connected Accounts? Which type are they? (Standard/Custom/Express)
For Payout, you can use automatic Payout for your Connected Accounts
More document here: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/bank-debit-card-payouts
Thanks, Orakaro,
I'm a dev hired by my client who is the merchant on the Application. I'm not sure what are the types, could you please explain in detail or share a link to the explanation?
If you have access to Dashboard, you should be able to see the type
Could you also let me know in this process, when does stripe charges their fees? Only while fetching the amount from the customer?
It depends on how you are charging your customer. There are Direct Charge/Destination Charge/Separated Charge and Transfer
Okay. Thanks. In our case, where a customer can book by paying either a credit or debit card, their card will be placed on hold, and how long can it be put on a hold. Could a partial amount also be charged and not a full amount after removing the hold on a card?
Up to 7 days
Yes you can capture a partial amount, but you won't be able to capture the rest later
If you want to hold longer, you can consider to create a new authorization and release the old one. But it has a downside that some bank might hold off the releasing authorization for a few days
So for simplicity, just try to do it under 7 days
Okay, Thanks a lot Orakaro. 🙂
Also, placing a hold on a card would mean that the customer isn't charged and money is still sitting inside their bank or sitting on Merchant's Stripe somewhere on hold?
OKay, Thanks. Also, can amount on hold be splitted and one portion sent to a bank and rest kept on Merchant's Stripe wallet?
