@lunar surge I'm not sure what the issue would be with Typescript and why you need a "lower level language"
Also the flow you describe seems like a prohibited business on Stripe so I think you should make sure to talk to our support team first about your plans to make sure you can do that on Stripe: https://support.stripe.com/contact/email
Honestly I don't understand what you are trying to do, what you call a wallet, etc. so it's hard to give advice without more details
@lunar surge
Share wallets? That sounds odd. Yes you would be right to assume to have each 'user' actually be a 'customer' in Stripe and each would get their own "Wallet". I am wondering if this is falling more in the realm of their own credit card.
Stripe accepts payment with wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc).
https://stripe.com/docs/payments/wallets
But not making wallets.
Like a Virtual Card
https://stripe.com/docs/financial-services
Usually if you make a Virtual Card you would use Issuing as a product instead
but AFAIK you are not allowed to just charge someone's account, hold funds for them and distribute them later, at least it's something you really need to talk to our support team about
Yeah I'll try to further clarify, we're essentially building an investment platform where customers can fund their accounts for investing in various assets, trading assets, etc. @devout spade This looks like what I had in mind. Their plan was to have a single shared wallet -- not entirely sure why or what that means, but yeah I'll read through these docs as this seems more in line with what I think we should be doing.
Honestly what you describe is as far as I know prohibited on Stripe
Oh for real? Well thanks for letting me know.
Overall we don't really have balance management the way you want to for customers so you'd mostly have a bucket of money in Stripe in your account and then track this on your end
Stripe support might be your Go To place to ask exactly. But unless the person/user is the one approving the transaction, you can not do it for them. I would look at other platforms like Robinhood, and the other platforms. They usually allow people to sign up with a credit card or to their bank account. But fast and loose is not going to happen if you go that route. That involves financial institutions and they hold the timelines on those.
It almost sound like your company wants to be the bank
I think it does yeah and I have mild regrets in taking this job over my last one lol, but thanks for advice. I'll update my team and maybe look into alternatives. Thanks for your time.
Good luck
Tell them they can make their own cryptocurrency, but that is always full of sadness and regret, and minor heart attacks. Any who, good luck
haha I'll be sure to bring it up, I appreciate it. have a nice rest of your week
Can I expand on this thread
The plan actually to have the user buy credit from us to spend later on.
I'm sorry, this thread is for developers asking questions about code. I really think you should pause and talk to our support team
I know nothing about our prohibited businesses and what is and isn't allowed
I work for Stripe but I help developers with code, I don't really work with the team that decides what is and isn't supported so I unfortunately don't know much beyond what I flagged earlier
it's possible this is supported, I would just clear that up first
Yeah we can ask. But the actual plan is a bit different from what was initially mentioned.
It is a bit confusing so I can understand why it was stated like that.
Naturally we will talk with stripe though. Thanks for the help.
honestly the summary you said above is also something I believe is prohibited ๐
Hehe... since customer credit balance was a thing I honestly thought I was making use out of it
That's interesting to know, I think our boss got the same answer from stripe but never communicated it to us. I'll have to read the communication myself to fully understand the picture.
sorry to hear that ๐ฆ
No worries, we adapt to survive amirite
