@old storm your main account has a feature that lets you force a statement descriptor for card payments, your Sandbox doesn't.
is there a way to enable that in our sandbox account as well? We created it based on settings from main account
@old storm you'd need to ask support too to get the right setting applied to your Sandbox account
we have multiple sandboxes to mirror our dev setup and would be tedious to contact support for each of them. is there a way I can enable it myself? also a lot of times support ends up going through first level who may not be technical enough
No there's no way to enable this yourself so you need to contact support.
This isn't really "technical". You need a feature enabled on the account.
The alternative is to move away from passing the full statement descriptor so that you don't hit this error (on any of your accounts) https://docs.stripe.com/get-started/account/statement-descriptors is a good read to start

let me know if youhave questions about that. "full statement descriptor for card payments" was deprecated in 2019
we are not using the full statement descriptor for card payments but for a sepa request, our code includes card as one of the payment methods and that's probably tripping this issue

you need to either remove card from payment_method_types if you are certain this is SEPA Debit only or add statement_descriptor_suffix
@wanton pagoda as expected the support agent is not clear about what setting needs to ne enabled. is there a page or any other hlpeful tips for them to understand where to enable that feature
tell them to escalate to someone else. I assume you're on live chat, this can never be done on chat

No there is nothing you can share or see or do. You have a setting internally on your main account and you need it on your Sandbox account.
Is there a specific name for that setting?
It's called a gate, but that won't help you, the person on live chat won't be familiar with it.
Sorry I want to help but it also feels like I'm debugging our support flow (which I flagged many times doesn't work well)
The next step is to ask them to escalate to a higher tier/level where someone can help
