the simplest option is to add a short free trial to the Subscription, which will extend the current period for free.

let's say the user's subscription renews on the 15th, and you want to add them 3 additional days for free. you would update the subscription, and set trial_end to the 18th (15+3). so instead of getting an invoice on the 15th, they'll get it on the 18th, which means they got 3 days for free
