Hi there,
let me take a look...

civic geode

Thank you

From your description I assume you are using destination charges at the moment to create customers and settle on the platform, and then try to payout to the connected account?

civic geode
#

yes correct. this is exactly correct

turbid kelp
#

But your platform is in Canada and the connected account is in the US?

civic geode
#

Yes our platform is in canada. and we have affiliate merchants internationally. for this particular issue yes the connected account is in the US

turbid kelp
civic geode
#

ok, so our stripe business accocunt would have to be in US?
Also, any timeline for the CAD? we have two branches but our main stripe is in the CAD accoutn but we are doing business all over the world

#

and atm this is a big blocker for us where we can't transfer our customers commissions payments

turbid kelp
#

Totally understandable.
If you would have a Stripe platform that is based in the US, you would be able to enable the cross-border payout feature.
I don't have a timeline for support for other countries. That is subject to the product team. But I can definitely send them a feature request. The more people request the feature the morelikely/faster this will get implemented.

civic geode
#

yes please send the feature request.. seems a bit nuts that you have the infastructure to do it but just dont allow cad companies...

#

we have invsted alot of time in our cad setup with products and prices and lots of customers

#

we also do alot of individual Transfer calls..

do those not work either on US accounts? we have to use a on_behalf payment intent?

turbid kelp
#

Yes, it is the same spiel. Transfers into other countries are cross-border payouts that fall under the same restriction. If you use on_behalf_of, the settlement would still be on the platform and you most likely will run into the same issue. Only option in that case would be destination direct charge

civic geode
#

sorry not sure what this means. could you clarify a bit.

#

What we want at the end of the day is where we the platform, can send funds out internationally especially to our US affiliates

turbid kelp
#

sorry I meant direct charge...
on a destination charge the funds flow to the platform no matter if using on_behalf_of or not. It goes to the platform first. If using on_behalf_of it automatically transfers then to the connected account. In a corss border situation, that transfer might still not work depending on the connected accounts country. So the only save way would be using direct charges.

Yes and this is very similar to what we want. We want the funds to flow to our Platform and then we will redi stribute according to our necessary directives. Maybe switching to a US Stripe platform is the only solution if we want to send money outside Canada. Is that it?

#

Thank you. We will work on this

turbid kelp
#

No problem. Always happy to help.
I've also sent out the feature request for canadian cross-border pauout feature,

civic geode
#

Thank you so much and have a good day

turbid kelp
#

Thank you. You too.

civic geode
#

One question before you go

#

Will direct charges work for the cross border payment
