Hi, could you elaborate on this? Is this a Dashboard option?

debit negative balances turned on

its a settings option when creating a connected account in the api. im not entirely sure how to edit it from the dashboard. but all the documentation states everywhere that i can debit a connected account into a negative balance if they have debit negative balances turned on, and our platform has reserves enabled. the whole reserves enabled thing is a little mysterious to me, i cant find anywhere how to toggle it. i dont think there is a toggle for it

So this is more of an option to "charge a bank account to cover the Connected Account negative balance". If the option is off, Platform will need to use Reserved Balance or the CA will be hold etc.

It doesn't change the fact that when you try to Charge a CA which can make it negative after your request, we will stop the request and say "sorry this account fund is insufficient"

man, if thats the case the documentation is wrong or extremely misleading.

https://support.stripe.com/questions/debit-a-connected-account

it states:

"Debiting an account cannot make the connected account balance become negative unless you have reserves enabled (on by default for all new platforms) and have a bank account in the same currency as the debit."

it then goes on to say "Use create_charge to debit a connected account. See Debiting Connected Accounts for more details." and the referenced documentation

https://docs.stripe.com/connect/account-debits?dashboard-or-api=api#charging-a-connected-account

is about creating charges on connected accounts.

Yes, cannot means we will stop it if the result making CA balance become negative ๐Ÿ™‚

and actually ya. looking at my test account, thats exactly what happens. reserve transactions were created.

I think this is a question of "why Connect Reserve doesn't work on my Livemode account"

stiff oriole
#

no. i dont see anything about connect reserves

ornate quiver
#

Could you provide the request id in Test mode, where it created Connect Reserve transaction for you?

req_Ql1CS9U4YGfUSD

i believe this should work

ornate quiver

Thanks, and could you clarify how you see it created a reserve transaction?

Thanks!

#

Could you write to Support? They can check why this isn't enabled for you in Live mode. There may be some settings or status thing to resolve

stiff oriole
#

i can try.... i was just with two different support agents and they couldnt help me. not to be rude, but i often have a lot of issues with your support agents not understanding things. you have been the most help so far for any issue iv ever had.

i did make specific reference about checking if i had "reserves enabled", and they kept on telling me i couldnt do what i wanted to do. but i guess i could try pushing more on ensuring the settings for this are enabled.
