hello! A few additional questions here :
- who do you expect to show up on the customer's credit card statement, the platform (you) or the connected account?
- Who do you expect to collect KYC information from the connected account? platform (you) or Stripe?
- On the statement it would be the platform
- Stripe would collect the KYC info/bank details and validation during onboarding.
The transfer would be done seperately too using "Create separate charges and transfers", it's not linked to the customer's payment straight away, as they can change who they choose to support before a certain time.
hmmmm, this isn't going to be possible unfortunately. So https://docs.stripe.com/connect/cross-border-payouts is only for US platforms.
for your use case, a CA platform, and non-CA connected accounts, you can't create a cross-border Transfer
it would work if you only supported CA connected accounts as a CA platform
Ah I see, that's unfortunate. With a Canada Stripe account, can you even onboard US connected accounts?
you could, but you wouldn't be able to transfer funds to US connected accounts
Okay thank you for your time, I may have to look for a solution elsewhere. Unless you know of any other Stripe products that lets a Canadian stripe account pay US vendors/contractors?
not specifically for your use case sadly. You could set up a US company instead using Stripe Atlas : https://stripe.com/atlas, if you want to find out more about that, you'll need to reach out to Stripe Support - https://support.stripe.com/contact, they'll be able to advise you on that!
Okay thanks Alex!
