Could you share your use case in an example, so that it's easier for me to understand on what you would like to achieve?
If my Stripe account is registered in Australia and Tap to Pay iOS works for me. If I bring it to the US to accept payment, will it work?
Would highly appreciate if you can support as well a document we can refer to. Thank you.
This is not supported. You can't use the Tap to Pay mobile device registered in Australia account and accept payments in the US
What about tap to pay ddashbaord app?
This is also not supported
You can only accept the payments at the country where your Stripe account is registered
Can you give me a brief explanation why? The Stripe docs say it will as long as both countries are both tap to pay (either ios or android) enabled.
This is due to the compliance, regulation and legal reasons
Please confirm. Thank you!
Sorry I just want to ensure that this is realiable. Appreciate your insight.
Could you share the URL of the doc you're referring to?
Hi, only this: https://stripe.com/terminal/tap-to-pay
Where did you get these screenshots from?
Could you share the link of these screenshots?
I asked the AI assistant and it is giving me the same answers
Thats why i want to know if it is reliable
https://docs.stripe.com/terminal/payments/regional?integration-country=AU
Based on this document we can. I'm sorry i just need confirmation
Thanks for sharing the details.
These answers from AI Assistant are generated using artificial intelligence. This is an experimental technology, and information may occasionally be incorrect or misleading.
The information provided by the AI assistant here is incorrect for the one in your screenshot
https://docs.stripe.com/terminal/payments/collect-card-payment/supported-card-brands
This can also support the assumption that we can. What I understand initially is because it is geocoded that we cannot
Then when I researched further it seems like geocoded limitation only applies to those countries that are not tap to pay enabled.
Then when I researched further it seems like geocoded limitation only applies to those countries that are not tap to pay enabled.
This supporting evidence is not correct from the AI assistant
In a nutshell, you can only accept the payments at the country where your Stripe account is registered
Not overseas, regardless whether the country is supported
Alright. Can you share any document to support this? Thank you!
We don't have a public doc for this now. I will share the feedback to the relevant team to create one
Thank you. This is highly appreciated.
Sorry to mention this at this time of our conversation, as we are really confused, too. I want to share a feedback that some of Stripe users who brought their tap to pay from NZ to other countries were able to use this. This is an actual experience we've had. Unfortunately, we cannot find any document to confirm or deny this aside from what I have shared with you now.
https://docs.stripe.com/terminal/payments/regional
In order to process Terminal payments, both the Stripe account receiving the funds and the location associated with the reader must be in the same country, accepting local currency only.
This applies to Stripe terminal devices including Tap to Pay
But there's an option to change currency in our terminal tap to pay.
That's odd.
Anyway, I'll take that Stripe cannot support now. Hopefully your team can create a finalized information about this especially that user experience says otherwise.
This channel is for developers and direct technical integration questions with Stripe. I don't have the necessary expertise to advise on the cross-border payment acceptance via Tap to Pay or terminal. If you would like to share feedback, I'd recommend writing into our Support https://support.stripe.com/contact, so that this can be shared with the relevant team
Sorry for being too adamant in getting information out of you regarding this. This is just an honest inquiry. But truly appreciate the insights you gave me!
Thank you. Bouncing now.
No problem! Happy to help 😄
