I should add, I'm currently considering how to find the customer when the payment method is updated or deleted.
Hi, let me help you with this.
First of all if this is the case I would suggest adding the location to Customer object metadata too.
Now, you can search for SetupIntents by payment_method ID: https://docs.stripe.com/api/setup_intents/list#list_setup_intents-payment_method
But not for PaymentIntents unfortunately.
So, if I can add metadata to the customer, will any paymentmethod events attached to that customer automatically include that same metadata?
Ah, I don't think so. I see that the customer in question has "customer_id" in their metadata already, and that's not appearing in the paymentmethod events
Ah, but I could query for the customer and their metadata through the api... That'll be it
No, the metadata is not passed through to those generated objects. You can see where/when we do that: https://docs.stripe.com/metadata#copy-metadata
