Hmm I'm not sure I understand. Is the case that you set up pending items, but then delete/remove them?
And when then then time arrives, what happens?
Hey sorry, i went afk -
Is the case that you set up pending items, but then delete/remove them?
yes this pretty much summarizes the scenario
when we delete/remove the pending items - our subscription object does not reflect the changes and makes it difficult to determine when is the next billing invoice date (either pending or period end)
Gotcha -- I'm not sure if that's expected to update until that time passes and a check runs for the potential invoice (but finds nothing and so no invoice is generated)
I see - so this appears to be expected? Not sure how we'd best handle this. We want want to is to tell the customer when their next invoice is coming whether due to pending items or subscription renewal but the existence of the next_pending_invoice_item_invoice date when there are no items makes it challenging to know which the correct date
Right, i see
thinking about this ๐ค
What do you get if you call the upcoming invoice enpoint for that subscription while in this state?
Hmm I'd need to check on this as I don't know off the top of my head
FWIW we are implementing a custom billing page and so preferebably we like to avoid as many additional stripe API calls outside of their subscription if possible
Yep understandable
Can you share a specific example subscription ID I can look at where you observe this?
I'm going to keep looking, but it would also be helpful if you could write in to support with one or more examples of this so that we can investigate and see if there's a bug to resolve
This should be a subscription that had this experience, it has been some time so it's current state may be changed

for my knowledge are bug reports only done through formal customer support channels?
I ask as I really do appreciate the feedback cycle this discord has ๐ being typically more geared w/ developers + feedback timing
Not always, no, but where its going to require some detailed reproduction to confirm subtle behaviour its generally better because I can't do that repro live here
@opaque shuttle let me know when you've opened the support case! Please mention in your support details that you were working with us in Discord and also include the subscription ID you noted above (sub_1Jgt1HD0tZaJVqhDkiIVlR9x)
