While this flow works, I'm being charged for tax API calls
confused why you think that. https://support.stripe.com/questions/understanding-stripe-tax-pricing says we only charge as part of the successful payment, is that not the case?
I know nothing about our pricing so can't really help with that

Unfortunately that's not the case.
I've been charged 12 $ this month and I was just refreshing the page to see if the element was working and styled correctly

yeah I can't really help with this unfortunately, I know nothing about our pricing structure. Overall, I can't think of a way around it unless you switch to Elements Checkout
