Coming back to my question. What are you trying to achieve on the high-level? Are you using Stripe Checkout or creating Subscriptions directly?

You can use subscription_data.trial_period_days property when creating a Checkout Session: https://stripe.com/docs/api/checkout/sessions/create#create_checkout_session-subscription_data-trial_period_days
