Hi there!
what if the customer deletes this account and creates a new one?
Do you mean the customer buying the subscription or the connected account here?
Hey, the connected account
If a customer deletes the Stripe account or creates a new one? what happenes to all the recurring payments?
So your question is: "If a connected account deletes the Stripe account or creates a new one? what happenes to all the recurring payments?"
And the answer is: it depends. How did you create the Subscription? Can you share an example of a Subscripiton ID (sub_xxx)?
Sure, here you are: sub_1O29BcCxgVJcbkxuGq3KyDc5.
This is subscription that was created in Test mode
I'm confused. This is the request to create the Checkout Session: https://dashboard.stripe.com/test/logs/req_P6SBWcWcXdIXRH
Which was made on your platform account is not using Stripe Connect at all.
You are right, sorry for the confusion. I haven't set up Stripe Connect yet. But I am wondering what will happen when a Customer A buys a recurring subscription from the Customer B Stripe Account which is connected to my Stripe Account. And this Customer B deletes his account and creates a new one.
Again it depends how you create the subscription. If you use a Destination Charge or Separate charges & transfer, then the Subscription is created on the platform account, so deleting the connected account will have no effect.
If you create the Subscription with a Direct Charge, then the subscription is created on the connected account. In this case I'm not sure what happens, but I could run some tests if needed.
Thanks for your quick response. I would love to learn what will happen in the second case. Because the main purpose that we want to set up Stripe Connect is to avoid the destination charge and each customer get a direct charge.
Let me test this.
So if the connected account is deleted, then the Subscription will continue and the platform still gets the application fee.
So the charge goes to the platform account right?
Actually I'm not sure, give me a few more minutes to look into this.
Alright
👋 taking over for my colleague. Let me catch up.
Hey @finite galleon
I'm sorry it has been a busy handover please be patient will be shortly with you
Hi! I'm taking over from my colleague. Please, give me a moment to catch up.
We have tested this and it seems like the Subscription is deleted as soon as the Connected account is deleted.
Ok thanks, I am waiting.
Waiting for what?
Sorry my bad, I read that "Hi! I'm taking over from my colleague. Please, give me a moment to catch up." and I thought you are investigating the case.
So the customers should create new subscriptions to the new Connected account?
If they want to continue enjoy our services.
Yes.
Thanks for the help guys, you are the best!
