But isnt it that these links have a timeout after a while and now working anymore.. at least with the invoices stripe sends via mail thats the thing

Yep, this is true. But the customer can self-serve to get a new PDF: https://stripe.com/docs/invoicing/hosted-invoice-page#invoice-urls
