It is the seller way of noticing you that they may use your card to charge in future time, ie. if they provide some kind of repeating / recurring service which is not necessary a Subscription. You can email this seller/vendor asking them for clarification on their service

#

You are the customer, you can control by reaching out to your bank or card issuer any time, so if I were you I wouldn't be that worry

#

It's on the vendor / service provider needs to make terms clear, or they will have customer complain and charge back and only to worsen their business

You could be charged more than once yes, depends on the terms you agree with them (you can make them being clear about terms).
But on the another hand you can still always dispute (telling your bank you didn't agree). Of course if that's on purpose there will be investigation etc... All I want to say is that you are actually on the upper side of the transaction

As a customer

No, only merchant has Stripe account. To revoke you can either contact them asking to do that or contact your bank asking to stop payment to the vendor.

#

I would recommend contacting them first, unless they are really bad actor and suspicious

Definitely good to know, thank you for your time. I think for now I will avoid making the purchase because they seem somewhat like a bad actor. Their platform is definitely not designed in a way where I would have expected a rebill unless I had noticed the warning below the payment button. I will wait to hear back from them before filing any kind of report to the proper Stripe email though.

Sure. Just my 2cents, in most case when we receive similar question, it's just the merchant incorrectly display that text despite they never plan to charge you after ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck!

I don't think they can hide the text if they use our Subscription API, but they can still implementing their own Subscription engine with Stripe PaymentIntent API and then yes.
