Hello, we can start a new thread since it has been a bit. Putting a link here to that question #1027737070514483271 message
Let me catch up on the discussion from last time and I will be back in a minute
sure
Hello, so you found the MAC address but don't want to do it manually dozens of times?
i found the mac address but takes a series of steps to find it - takes more than a common person to find
my networking team is having to connect the docking station to the router - then the hardware mac address ..
so whatever is showing on diagnostics or network settings is not the hardware mac address that is on the firmware
What are the steps that you are taking to actually get the MAC address?
I'm surprised to hear that, our settings page should show the real MAC address.
Trying to think of what might be happening here.
just shared the screen of I am guessing you are referring to .. and that is not what the networking team is looking for
I am surprised that you are surprised!
mac address is usually published on the box .. stripe may have chosen to hide it for one reason or another and that is fine .. I was just wondering if there is a way to get that info and use for onboarding the devices on our network - without which wifi nor ethernet does not work.
and hence the ask
My machine and google drive don't recognize that image format. Can you try sending it in another?
I am a bit unclear on some of what is going on here. I will reach out to my colleagues who may know more on this and will get back to you
no worries at all .. please let me know what u find .. happy to talk or zoom with any tech resource who can help .. thx
Hello ๐
Stepping in
So just to clarify, are you using the ethernet dock to connect to the network or are you using the WIFI?
https://stripe.com/docs/terminal/payments/setup-reader/bbpos-wisepos-e#ethernet
The MAC shown on the reader under network settings and under diagnostics screen is what the router should also see if you're connecting via WiFi.
The ethernet dock might have its own MAC address though
@brisk wind
sorry @rose veldt had to step away .. am back now
I shared that with networking but that is not what they were looking for
Are you using the ethernet dock by any chance?
as it is right now, there is also some confusion since we have two devices: the dock , and the reader .. question is is which mac address is to be used
can u talk?
I am thinking that will save you time and me too
if u are in US
Unfortunately, we don't offer calls. We can chat here though.
Like I mentioned before if you're using the dock then it would have its own MAC address. I believe there are some limitations in the reader firmware where it might not show the dock's MAC address under reader network settings.
we are using the dock
Gotcha. Our team on discord doesn't know much about the firmware unfortunately.
I'd recommend reaching out to our support team via support@stripe.com so that they can put you in touch with the right team in order to figure out how to get the dock's MAC address.
The only alternative that I can think of right now is to use the reader without the dock (until you can chat with our team that handles reader firmwares)
I was advised by our account executive to try discord. he was going to reach out internally but have not heard back. support@stripe.com is much worse for me than discord so far - I get bounced around like a ping pong
Ah sorry about that.
Would you mind sharing your account ID?
re: The only alternative that I can think of right now is to use the reader without the dock (until you can chat with our team that handles reader firmwares: unfortunately, we need to wire them
we have several . here is one for your context acct_1LGqZGCW1y33yYkG
sounds like we will have to do the hard way - which are doing right now ... if I understand you it sounds like the mac address in effect when the card reader is docked is that of the docking station .. either we will try to figure it out.
we will try all sorts of combination and see what works .. thx
Yup I believe currently the firmware has a limitation where it only lists WiFi MAC address.

I'm unable to see Account Executive information on this account
Would you mind DM-ing me or @silver condor their details (name/email)
tried to dm but not going throu
Got it, Thanks again.
awesome .. nice chatting .. thx
So yeah, I'd recommend that you write in and flag it to your AE
They should be able to either put you in touch with the right team or get you the information that you require ๐
I need to step away now but feel free to ping here if you have any follow ups and @silver condor should be able to help
