Hard to explain, both of us are right of way, in Japan, you can turn left if your light is green, but you give priority to those who go straight first and you go last, even if it cause traffic/block people behind you its okay since its the road culture. Whoever has to turn has to wait and make sure no car is going straight first

What happened is similar to this, I passed the line already at 45-50kmph in green, but it turned yellow in the intersection, their green for turning cue is still grey (technically the safest signal to go left or to turn, but they can also turn cos they also have the right of road)

What I can imagine is they didn’t anticipate that I will push the yellow light (cos I already passed the line and I don’t want to block the pedestrian or be in the middle of intersection) and they thought I won’t so they decided to turn left while still green going yellow for me (and theirs is green also but to turn is still grey)
