very good statement!!! I dont think that the actual top fc players feedback make goals better. the game should follow his own philosophy and not react to every statement of people who mean whats bad in this game. for me after each patch the game feels different. you should get your base and build it around, but slightly in my opinion. the most fc statements arenât help the game.
We stick to our vision. Feedback is important, but direction is everything. We filter hard and stay stubborn where it matters. This studio was founded because we didnât believe in where FIFA/FC was going. Weâre not trying to outdo FC. Weâre building what we think a football game should be. Period.
@green agate Your vision is good, the game is good, but I find the attack too assisted.
I would agree regarding the level of assistance on shots. Iâd like aiming to be more controlled.
Or similar to passing system, where shot accuracy is tied to power: the harder you shoot, the less precise it is; the softer you shoot, the more âplacedâ it becomes (And the goalkeeper would also have a better chance of saving it.)
Just like in real life
That is how it works now. Shot power affects dispersion.
And what about aiming? Is semi-automatic shoot Is it planned for testing? I assure you, I'd really like to feel like I scored myself and not the game did /:
Our vision for the game is for it to be both assisted and contextual. Basically emulating intent (like Rocket League). We don't plan to lean more into a manual system, neither for shots or passes.
I assumed that was already the case, but it still feels a bit too "easy", even for a beginner, to hit the top corner with full power
Oh... that's a shame...
It's even too easy to get a shot on target and finish an attack, yes, would it be possible to at least add that part of the game? I just want to feel like I scored because I deserved it.Not because the game told me I had to score, I don't know if I'm expressing myself well
The difference in RL is that you have a live, player controlled GK
Good Noticed
I think you could do a poll to decide! Just so you know, on the French channel, many of us want there to be an added difficulty (even a small one) in shooting to score. One goal, but I respect your vision.
Defeats are guaranteed if there isn't a minimum of manual dexterity.
The terms. Honestly, if you want to get into esports, you need a minimum level of commitment; not everything should be hand-holding.
Comparing RL is hilarious
The passing is way too assisted ive conceded so many times due to my through ball going through a gap instead of directly towards them
Old FIFAs passing was quite manual I donât understand the assistance goals is going for
I think I didn't understand the last line.
I donât understand why goals wants passing so assisted
I don't know either...
@green agate The dipping shots are INCREDIBLE. Are you overdosing? Over. Are you underdosing? Goalkeeper. Too much in one direction? exit. I just wish that level of skill would be applied to every shot! Right now, even my 3-year-old niece can score 6 goals...
A bit of manual defending and shooting would improe the game 100%
No, the core vision of Rocket League is to "emulate player intent, not real impact". And this is the approach we are taking as well. Both when it comes to contextual systems and assistance. We are not building a hyper realistic simulation game.
yes
We can already see that the skill gap is high, that is what ultimately is needed for esports.
For now, I don't see a skill gap in attack.
The skill gap is getting into a strong position in the box, more so than manually finishing your shots.
Yes, I completely agree. with the through passes as well It is therefore too easy to go into the penalty area
Yes, esports needs skill gaps, but I find the shooting too automated. I mean, the O button is literally a "score a goal" button; it shouldn't be like that.I'm only talking about shooting, I mean look at iRacing or Assetto Corsa, there's a real skill gap on braking, but here on shots in the box, a cross shot, goes in 100% of the time, I I'm sorry, but esports doesn't need assistance. If you're good at finishing, you score; if you're bad, you miss. Except the game doesn't allow us to be bad; I don't want to have 17 shots on target. Out of 19 attempts. I don't want to get a single shot or goal in the box. This is just FIFA 13 for poor people. That's my opinion.
(My entire criticism concerns solely the difficulty management of the shots.)
@green agate You're talking about a big skill gap, yet you keep making adjustments that close it. Defending is now so automatic that a second-man press is enough and you don't have to put in much effort in defense, and it became ping pong, everyone is afraid to pass because many passes are intercepted and there is a counter, and this causes this high RNG by such situations. Actually passes are slow and you've made buff where AI significantly helps with interceptions; everything seems so automated. I suppose you're thinking too much about casual players instead of making a game aimed at professional players, where skill alone counts. If you want to be good, you simply have to play a lot and develop a talent for these kinds of games. If someone is weak, they will lose and study until they going be better. Now, an average player can have a close match against a much better player, where they would normally lose 5-0 at halftime. And such situations are what football simulation games are. Too much automated behaviors bds.
As a little anecdote, the first time I played Assetto Corsa, I didn't know how to brake without locking the wheels. Today, I can easily set a good lap time because I've learned, I've understood. And I've never used assists in my life; that's what this game should do. Semi-automatic mode is the minimum, and don't automate the mechanics. It's up to us players to learn. Having 17 shots on target out of 19 attempts (and 10 going in) isn't sport, it's casual.
@tranquil cobalt he's not wrong
@green agate And know one thing most People who are here fled the competition precisely because the games were too assisted. If your game becomes automated, as it is now, there will be an element of chance in the shots, the The passes, and the defense. This will create a script. Go ahead and do it. We're watching. You have gold in your hands, don't waste it. STOP trying to be accessible, be accessible AND demanding.
Every skilled player wants the largest skill gap possible because they know that if they practice and play, they'll get better. If you create a game specifically for a skill-based player base, believe me, it will create 50x biggest base of players than in an automated mess with small skill gap.
There are a ton of misconceptions in this thread:
- All our game designers want a high skill gap. Our backgrounds are from competitive games. I am former CS pro player and I ran one of biggest and most succesful esports teams. Kurt is one of the best FIFA players in history, Valerio is one of the best experts in football AI, and the list goes on. The design team is incredibly strong and they know what we need for high skill gap.
- We are not adding RNG to the game
- We are not trying to cater to a casual audience only
- We built our own engine to support a competitive game.
- Just because we do contextual and assisted systems doesn't mean they are low skill gap. We never set out to build a manual game. We don't believe that increaes the skill gap we are after.
But the game isn't balanced yet, and this is very important to keep in mind. We are not optimizing this game for the beta, we are optimizing it for the launch.
And don't forget that all Quake players back in the days thought CS had zero skill gap đ
Okay, I saw you were an esports player, congratulations on that by the way! Now you're telling me the game isn't balanced for the beta, very well, I'll trust you, because it remains It's still a beta version, I'm having fun with the game, my only criticism is the shooting. One shot, one goal, that's just not possible, in my opinion. Honestly, try to at least set it to semi-automatic. And look at the player feedback, it's not malicious, my criticisms are harsh Because no football game to date is up to par, that's a fact, you are the last hope I don't want you to overlook the mistakes of others; seeing guided missiles worries me, and that's the aspect I'm particularly critical of. By implementing this shooting system, I'm afraid it will introduce an element of randomness into the game. Even if that's not your intention, I'm simply worried that the assists might create that kind of randomness. @green agate
I fully trust our designers in delivering on this. They are the best.
We'll see when the game comes out (: I'm just saying the shooting isn't possible
@green agate I still hope that the criticisms about the shooting mechanics will be passed on to the developers.
They are playing the game all the time.
GOOD.
And we will keep on balancing this game. Itâs a live service after all.
As long as you balance the shots so there aren't any one-shot-one-goal situations, that's fine with me.
I don't know, we must be playing a different game :D. The goalkeeper often saves shots from the penalty area, shots that should 100% go in, and you want buff gk lol
you have 4 games in goals
beta
and talk about buff gk
nice
The goalkeepers are good, I'm not criticizing that aspect, I'm just criticizing the finishing, which is too easy and too assisted.
Yeah, about thirty matches in total, but that doesn't mean I don't have the right to give my opinion. If you can't finish a shot, just get better, that's all.
@green agate I don't know if this will make things clearer, but I just find the shot-to-target ratio too high. I just want to know if this will change later (not necessarily in the beta). It will be more balanced and harder to get a shot on target, that's all, otherwise the game is great (or @lunar swan)
@green agate Could you please watch the videos and tell me if the shots will be balanced in the final version? I really feel like I'm only getting one shot per goal right now. /;
Do you like using those cameras btw?
Do you want the goalkeeper to defend everything for you? lmao
The problem is that when I shoot, I don't even control the power of my shot; I don't care which way I aim, I know it's going in for sure. I'm not saying we shouldn't score or that the The goalkeepers need to be stronger; the goalkeepers must be untouchable. I'm just saying you need to balance your shots. Right now, I'm not even controlling my power, I'm not even aiming! Because it's going in for sure. Why does it bother you that the attack is made harder? You don't know how to attack? I'm not saying to put it in ultimate manual mode, I'm just saying I want to feel like I'm the one who scored, and right now I don't get that feeling. After talking about goalkeepers defending all by themselves when you want the game to shoot for you, I find that audacious. @tranquil cobalt
I love the TV camera
@plain wren Maybe try getting better? Youâre at 1479 SR and expecting the game to be difficult at that level. From your clips, it even looks like defenders are moving out of the way and giving you the best angles to shoot.
At this point, it just seems like youâre looking for attention. Iâve even seen top-20 leaderboard players saying that scoring in 1v1 situations has become harder, but those are "elite" players and theyâre playing at a completely different level than you, facing stronger teams and better players who donât give away easy shooting angles.
So stop tagging bds and let them work on things. Just be patient and if youâre frustrated, go play something else in the meantime.
Okay, since I have a low elo because I'm not on this game 24/7, I can only remain silent, I understand.
