Is it possible to position a model with a 3" reach in such a way, that the model is not considered to be within a cloud template (i.e., not be seen), while if any enemy model that attempts to enter the cloud template would receive a defensive strike?

No, that's not the real question. The question is if you need to enter the cloud by even 0.0000001" to be "within".

So in this case you don't see through? and if I and oponent are b2b with ☁️ we are 3 inches from ourselves I can't use defensive strike with my 3 rng mele weapon yes?
