#Scoring Timing on Wolves, Payload, Invasion

Here is the last discussion on this:
https://discord.com/channels/836950369791377408/1289194424315809815
The link in that thread is dead and it fails to address the specific timing question on all aforementioned scenarios
After that thread I opened up a follow-up that never got any answers asking exactly the same as @carmine horizon here https://discord.com/channels/836950369791377408/1289493878180937728
Sometimes tagging the Infernals helps them notice threads that may otherwise get buried
True. Let's do that. @versed kelp @vale anvil : SR24 is almost over. Any chance we can know how it's actually played before we start asking questions about SR25? (btw, hoping SR25 wordings take these questions into consideration and are clearer)
Let me take a look
I know we discussed it, posted what it was in our internal discussion. I think we may have forgot to post the final result
So end result can't down to this
You'll move objectives, score
Then check for victory
When do you score the other objectives?
And is there a check for victory phase after that (and thus before moving the objectives)?
Even though the SR packet specifically says that the objectives move after points have been scored?
Does the victory check happen before or after jackpot scoring?
All it says is to check “After scoring”
It isn't the first time when a ruling regarding SR2024 has been directly against what the rules say/said. Just please make it crystal clear to everyone how it should be played. At least to me it still isn't.
I think what Bulldog's saying is:
- normal scoring
- move
- bonus scoring
- check for victory
@versed kelp for confirmation?
Also please confirm if Wolves bonus point timing is different from payload/Invasion bonus point timing as Wolves just says score then move, while the others trigger the bonus with the move.
So wolves checks for the jackpot before the the second player can move the 40mm on their 4th turn
RAW yes, and it makes it an even scenario as a result
Both players have 4 opportunities to move the objective
2 on bottom of turns and 2 on top?
Right
Gotcha.
This is not a rules discussion but I'd say with that interpretation the 1st player has a clear advantage because of the board position
So wolves order is
•Jackpot
•Move
•Score
•Victory check
And invasion and Payload go
•Score
•Move
•Jackpot
•Victory check
@versed kelp is this correct?
Recon:
• Score
• Check for victory
Battlelines:
•Score
•Check for Victory
•Move objectives
Wolves:
•Score (including bonus)
•Check for Victory
•Move objectives
Payload:
•Score
•Check for Victory
•Move objectives
•Score bonus if applicable
•Check for Victory
Two Fronts:
•Score (including bonus)
•Check for Victory
Invasion:
•Score
•Check for Victory
•Move objectives
•Score bonus if applicable
•Check for Victory
This is my understanding based on prior infernal/dev commentary and RAW.
Would love a comprehensive definitive answer on it
I agree that some go out of order of how they are presented in the doc, Loren has definitely made sure to address for the new doc. Give me a moment and I'll post for 2024 please
Recon
- Score
- Check Victory
Battlelines
- Score
- Move Objectives
- Check Victory
Wolves
- Score
- Move objectives
- Check for Wolves Bonus
- Check Victory
Payload
- Score
- Move Objectives
- Check for Payload Delivery bonus
- Made to Haul (if 50 has been removed skip this step there is no objective to move toward)
- Check for Victory
Two Fronts
- Score
- Check for Victory
**Invasion **
- Score
- Move Objectives
- Check Invasion bonus
- Check Victory
I admit the text describing the timing wasn't as clear on that as I was hoping. Something that is going to be improved for '25
Thank you for this
of course :)
The text of wolves says different in the SR packet. Does order listed above supersede the text of the packet?
Yes
Thanks a lot!
Great to have it covered clearly. I think this is how the scenarios have been played most (as that's the most intuitive way) even though the rules text is different regarding wolves and payload.
Thanks @vale anvil and @versed kelp feels good to have this cleared up. If nothing else this is a testament to how well you’ve trained the player base to want a timing chart 😂
