#3.1.2 Causes by laptop to reboot

The previous version was working fine. I tried this version when it was in beta, and it caused my laptop to reboot, so I kept using the previous version, but now I'm stuck with this.

Mid-game, my laptop would just suddenly freeze and then reboot. I'm playing Cyberpunk 2077 with the "Enhanced DualSense Support" mod https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/4156

Also happens when I play Red Dead Redemption 2 with the "DualSense 5 - Adaptive Triggers" mod
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1204

I have the DualSense DLC and I'm using a DualSense controller via Bluetooth, but I encounter the same problem when using it wired.

And just to rule it out, I never encounter this issue when I'm not using DSX.

Nexus Mods :: Cyberpunk 2077

This mod improves Adaptive Triggers support and some other features for the PS5 DualSense controller.

Nexus Mods :: Red Dead Redemption 2

Got a DualSense 5 controller? Love the adaptive triggers feature? This mod is for you

Hello, sorry for the issues you're having!

#

Can you please go to logs page and press the compress logs for sharing button and share the zip file here?

#

It would help to invesigate what's going on

heavy fable
#

Also please note the Cyberpunk mod is not updated for the latest version of the game, it should work just fine just by manually launching the UDP Client but maybe Limai has to adjust some things here and there, unfortunately he's been afk for a whole month it seems

The second link is not related to DSX, so it's not using DSX mod system.

Indeed

glossy saffron
#

When did the last reboot happen?

weak willow
#

a few minutes ago, so I switched to the lgacy version for now.

glossy saffron
#

Does it happen right away, or after some time?

#

is it random?

weak willow
#

it happens randomly mid-game.

#

Sometimes, a few minutes after I start playing, sometimes it's after hours in game.

glossy saffron
#

I think the issue is more of your resources are maxed out

#

And thus laptop reboots

#

if you try to lower cyperpunk settings, does it still happen?

#

Are you able to track task manager to see what usage of DSX is like?

#

Also can you share your Steam ID real quick? it shows up when DSX starts. It's like 13 numbers or so

weak willow
glossy saffron
#

It could be a memory leak, although that should only make DSX crash, not reboot PC

heavy fable
#

You may want to try capping your FPS a little just to give your system some headroom

glossy saffron
#

Because we need to determine if it's due to resource consumption or something else

#

thanks

#

Okay

#

How about opening up Event Viewer

#

There will be logs there about why PC rebooted

#

need to check applications section

#

around the time of the reboot to see if anything is there regarding DSX

#

and then also need to look int the System tab around the time of the reboot to see what could have triggered it

#

Other than that, there's really no helpful info i can find regarding this issue

#

Logs don't report anything suspicious or errors happening

#

How long has this been happening?

weak willow
glossy saffron
#

hmm

#

you've used the pre-release

#

and no issues there?

#

Also do you use installed games page?

weak willow
#

yes, I tried this version in pre-release, and I encountered the issue.

weak willow
#

maybe you're right, it is a resource issue, RAM probably, I'm at 75% and I haven't even started the game. The reason it's only happening in this release is maybe its just more resource-intensive.

glossy saffron
#

Can you share screenshot of usage of DSX?

#

in task manager

weak willow
glossy saffron
#

okay currently it's almost 500 mb for ram

#

I have a question

#

if you don't use the mod system, does it still make PC reboot?

weak willow
glossy saffron
#

Yeah please do

#

you can disable Incoming UDP in Settings -> Networking

weak willow
#

ok, thanks!

heavy fable
#

If you're testing in Cyberpunk, do launch the UDP Client regardless to repro as close as possible the only changed variable being Mod System disabled

glossy saffron
#

and if possible, track RAM usage of DSX

#

if it goes anything above 1 gb, something is wrong

#

even currently 500 mb is a lot

#

Share your PC specs when you get the chance as well

Interesting that it's happening with rdr2 like the other person who has a leak with gta v. Could be something about how Rockstar games work. I know I've noticed that Rockstar games seem to block inputs from going to other apps, so like for me I can't use discord push to talk while playing GTA or rdr2 because discord just doesn't see the button. Maybe it's something about that

heavy fable
#

Cyberpunk doesn't do anything of that sort though

I tried running DSX without a game, just playing around with the DualSense, and I eventually got it to reboot. The log is saying I got a bluescreen, but I never saw it; it just got rebooted. Here is the error:

Thank you very much for the report.
Pali will get back to you when he's back.

glossy saffron
#

Okay we will need dumps of the blue screen crashes

#

@formal zealot how to capture full BSOD dumps again?

formal zealot
#

@weak willow how much RAM do you have and how much free disk space on C drive?

weak willow
#

I got 16gb ram and 64gb on my C drive

glossy saffron
#

Steam Xbox?

#

uhh

formal zealot
#

@weak willow turn off Steam Enhaced Xbox driver as a workaround

weak willow
#

yup, I just uninstalled that.

formal zealot
#

Reboot, retry what you did

weak willow
#

I didn't do anything different; I was gaming for hours before it happened. I'll get back to you if it happens again, but thanks everybody, I hope this fixes the issue.

formal zealot
#

Were you using an xbox controller via Bluetooth?

#

@weak willow This

weak willow
formal zealot
#

Well, I see what I can do with the crash report, cheers

weak willow
#

maybe because I'm using xbox 360 emulation?

formal zealot
#

The crash happens in conjunction with Bluetooth, so it's odd. If that was the issue the dump would originate from the virtual x360 controller

Could be Steam trying to hook itself into things it doesn’t belong to. Not the first time Steam went out of its way to do hacky stuff
