#2 Player Bug

I am having a bug that won't go away. Every time I use a controller through DSX, the controller reads as being controller 2 even though only 1 controller is connected. I have LED passthrough enabled and it shows 2 white lights to indicate it is the second controller. I have HidHide and it says that it's hiding the physical controller but Path of Exile 2 reads 2 controllers and wont let me play single player.

Is there anyway to change which controller port the device appears as?

Send logs please

I was going to buy a poe 2 the other day, I'll check your bug at the same time. One more question - is the error only in the poe?

what happens if you first disable led passthrough and have player one led off or at player one instead

#

i mentiond to @zinc pivot long time ago i noticed that two LEDS come on when turning on Dualsense emulation initially and passthrough was on

#

one thing i have also noticed that might help and needs testing is launch a native single player game first if you own one this will switch the controller to one player LED

surreal hearth
#

Can't this game be played in native mode?

Just fixed this, DSX had default values set, even when virtual controller didn't get any data. So if LED passthrough is ON, and virtual controller is created, there should be no lights at all.

#

in terms of the game seeing 2 controllers, you will need to make sure that you start DSX -> Connect Controller before you start any game, or have any programs open that may be communicating with the controller. HidHide can't work if some program has a hook to it (Reading from/writing to controller)

frank lake
#

It goes back and forth now. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

surreal hearth
#

Anyway use native mode wired for best experience

#

Make sure data sending toggle is off

frank lake
#

I think I finally figured it out. For some reason neither of the controllers were selected to be hidden by the HIdHide configuration client. I checked the Sony wireless controller to hide, restarted the controller and it’s working now.

frank lake
#

(Sigh) now the triggers aren’t working

surreal hearth
#

I'm getting confused by this thread, best to keep it to one topic this will help others as well as us, make a new ticket regarding different games and adaptive triggers please

frank lake
#

I will if I have further issues. It ended up being that I had disabled the wrong gamepad in the configuration app.

Same problem here, it detects 2 controllers. I'm really tired of having problems with hidehide every time I want to play. I have the dsx that starts when windows starts. So, I connect the controller via bluetooth, start the game and there are always problems.

I have been fighting with hidehide, until out of 10 attempts it only detects one controller.

I don't know what to do to avoid these problems.

Not sure why you are having so many issues, there will be a experimental restart button in the next update hopefully that might help your scenario. You could try reinstall the hidhide driver I guess. You have hidhide toggles on in DSX so DSX controls hidhide. You shouldn't need to configure anything

brazen turtle
# surreal hearth Not sure why you are having so many issues, there will be a experimental restart...

Exactly, I don't understand why I have these problems, if dsx works perfectly, the problem is the hidehide, which I don't know why it has these problems. In fact, when I go 15 minutes without using the controller, it turns off and I turn it back on, it again causes the problem of detecting 2 controllers. And I have to open the hidehide and keep playing until path of exile decides not to detect a second controller...

#

I had DS4 installed before, but I don't know if that interferes with anything, I just deleted the folder. And I bought this DSX which is infinitely better.

#

Currently it recognizes 1 remote. But is it normal to have 3 devices there when I only have 1?

surreal hearth
#

Remove them all

brazen turtle
#

Ok i will do it

#

Removed

surreal hearth
#

Restart DSX and see what happens

brazen turtle
#

Ok

#

Now I get 1 here, I'm going to try Path of Exile 2.

#

2 controllers...

surreal hearth
#

You using Dualsense emulation

brazen turtle
#

Yes

surreal hearth
#

That probably explains it

#

I thought the fix was pushed but maybe it's not

brazen turtle
#

Mmmm

surreal hearth
brazen turtle
#

Should use Dualshock 4?

surreal hearth
#

Give any a try and see if the same issue persist

brazen turtle
#

Okey

#

The issue persist :/

surreal hearth
#

Have you first restarted everything

brazen turtle
#

thats hidehide, 2 controllers there

surreal hearth
#

One is physical and the other is Dualshock emulation I guess

brazen turtle
#

I would say yes, but I get lost there hehe

surreal hearth
#

Just try restarting everything and use Dualshock emulation then launch game

brazen turtle
#

Ok i will restart everyting, restarting windows etc

#

The issue persist..

#

In options, in the controls section, it detects a controller without a name, it is empty, but it allows you to select it.

surreal hearth
#

@zinc pivot please could you troubleshoot your driver there are way to many issues currently being reported again

zinc pivot
#

So I can't just "troubleshoot something"

#

HidHide working perfectly fine and the same way as it did a few years ago

surreal hearth
#

Sure lol

brazen turtle
#

Should I select 1 option in hide? Or should they be unchecked? Because in DSX Hide there is one selected. But in HideHide there is not.

surreal hearth
#

Working just great

#

Maybe DSX implementation of hidhide is shitty then

zinc pivot
#

Might be, I didn't make the integration

#

Works for literal millions of installations shrugko

#

And is a free tool so all the support you get from me is free too

surreal hearth
#

For some reason the free version of DSX doesn't like hidhide for myself yet v3.1 I have no issues

zinc pivot
#

We can always deprecate HH and stop using it altogether

#

I forced nobody to integrate it shrugko

If it is so bad stop using MIT'ed software then, easy

#

So tired in fact that I might just hand off maintenance to someone else

#

Cuz so far all it did for me past years is cause more work I am not getting compensated for

wicked tide
#

Only had to reinstall it once and it likely was DSX having messed up its config tbh, no idea how users can mess up their installs but it's the most likely scenario

#

Yeah I get that.. :/

surreal hearth
#

Let's see if the restart controller button helps those with issues

zinc pivot
#

The integration API is open source since day one. If there is a reproducible way of a proper bug reported to me, I can look into it. These threads that just boil down to "something doesn't work sometimes for some reason" don't do anything

#

Anyway, I digress, wer are just going in circles

brazen turtle
#

Well, it seems that I have found a method that works well. It is by deactivating the DSX's hidhide, so that it does not take control. Mysteriously there is no duplicity of controller..

#

then with standalone hidhide it works fine. I don't understand anything... so if this is of any help to anyone..

adding to the discussion, as it seems relevant.

at times DSX<->HH communication works correctly (i.e. shows only the emulated device on HWTester.com); but at times it seems to lose track of HH, and the site lists both devices (actual and emulated). dsxShrug

Maybe the OP can help you as this is the same issue as yours?

Latest V3.1 beta made some changes to help. Please try and read post

going to 3.1, turning off the DSX control of HidHide launching the config, using xbox emu and connecting after like itt sys on HH then gamw over. it works

undone axle
#

I suspect that this issue might be caused by users opening both DSX (i.e. background process in system tray) & HidHideConfigurationClient at the same time dsxShrug

I believe that there is some kind of socket lock towards HidHide backend, or a similar behavior, where both clients try to interact with HH at the same time, and start interfering with each other?

I will try to reproduce this (#soon), and reply if I find any coorelation.

surreal hearth
#

Older builds you couldn't open hidhide whilst DSX was using it
