hey all
if you weren't at the #1463941321227239527 last week, Chainflow team posted their weekly summary here https://namadaflow.substack.com/p/namadaflow-weekly-update-9d8
hey !
there were some Qs after the hour, i think @violet latch in particular has some outstanding Qs for @prime terrace #1463941321227239527 message
my understanding is that Heliax has now added relayers to their infra stack ( π !)
is that correct, @prime terrace ?
yeah that's correct
however ideally the wider community should also keep running them. so far i think we are running osmosis, noble and cosmos hub
are there any other major chains that need relayers?
NAM currently held in the MASP i still have to check on (whether any and how much). we have a sophisticated custody setup for keys without a single point of failure
Probably Celestia
Namada has ~$2800 worth of TIA from Celestia, according to the metrics page
the biggest ones (USDC ~$850k & ATOM ~$250k) are covered tho
yeah it's unclear to me if anyone is still using any others in a major way
@prime terrace last time you said that Namada has still a future.
What concrete steps are planned to revitalize Namada over the next 3β6 months, and what signals should the community watch for to know the project is truly active again?
this is a pretty handy tool for that https://explorer.namada.net/masp-transactions
can even filter based on asset
also @violet latch had these Qs in the previous Bonfire, and i forgot to surface them in the prev Validator Circle: #1461404644306845892 message
in the next couple of days (by end of next week) the twitter account will be active again. namada has never not been active, baring less activity on twitter.
i think a big action item in the next couple of weeks is to figure out how to handle most of cosmos shutting down. connectivity between IBC and EVM worlds is shitty atm and it's unclear to me how to fully fix that outside of rewriting core ibc
namada has always been in the continue bucket. so i think from here on out its about continuing to get the msg around privacy at into the world. luckily the market seems relatively perceptive to that idea overall. the value accrual for nam has never changed. it's fundamentally a utility tool to secure the network, which of course can and should charge fees
hi all!
@prime terrace have you given more thought about the plan for sustaining Namada validators? and the timeline for handling it
oh the idea around USDC rewards. overall i still like it, but i haven't investigated it further in-depth in the last couple of days
i think a decent first step that someone in the community could take the lead on is to start estimating how much the real infra cost is to operators
now that Brent is gone, who will be the main point of contact between Heliax and Namada community?
Tiago - posted in the infra chat today about it
but you can also always ping me here π
Hey guys, I noticed thereβs someone in Penumbra thatβs working on connecting up to Namada routing
ah on that topic. an active area for development for us at the moment is to make private bridging practical
This is a very important question. I don't want to complain about the accumulated infrastructure costs, but they are quite significant, considering the full hold of tokens.
What do you think to extend Namada to have the same concept of MASP on ethereum? Could we have the same integration issues with other blochchaina like Solana? What I am asking if it is really possible to pursuit the concept of a single MASP on a given L1 or we have to think about multiple MASP running on different ecosystem (e.g. cosmos, eth, bitcoin etc?
I agree, as far as I remember, an Eth bridge was once planned in Namada.
currently investigating it. it's non-trivial since ethereum lacks the precompiles for pederson hashes, whereas solana even lacks the precompiles for bls12-381. so theoretically feasible, but i still need a couple of weeks
overall i'm pretty convinced that private bridges are super important, but we can probably live without them in the short term. so multiple massp instances may actually be a much better status quo than right now
i've a project on solana to provide privacy and it's literally a fork of the tornado cash code from 5 years ago, since even the fast base layers are fucking slow to add opcodes
What do you mean by private bridges?
ie that you have connected shielded sets
how much runway does AF have for Namada? is it independent from Anoma's? or are you thinking of these are more closely related projects
unfortunately there's something unexpected and urgent that i have to attend to
perhaps you could lock up around the hour, @prime terrace? if i don't make it back in time
overall the AF has amble financial resources to steward the overall Anoma ecosystem, including Namada, for a few years.
how do i lock up? π go ahead though
It's in here π
ah perfect
what is everyone most excited about with regards to privacy?
i'll start. i think 2026 is the year where everyone realises that without privacy we've build a surveillance panopticon
That's all well and good, but Namada isn't the only one working on such solutions right now. There are projects that deal with privacy at the level of individual popular blockchains. Therefore, it would be necessary to have some kind of clear development plan for the coming months. During the time when the community was abandoned and Gavin tried to move the project forward without all the necessary resources, but only with a sincere desire, declaring common goals is now insufficient. This is even easy to see from the number of active participants on this bonfire.
I hope we will see a concrete roadmap that will allow the Namada network to develop. Considering the impact of Noble from IBC. Soon, more than 75% of the masp pool (USDC) will be gone.
i disagree with your characterization of events but i can empathize that the market has started being very tough on especially technologies that are build for the long game (ie the multichain world). everyone is running into the direction of single chains, which we know just won't work. how to tackle that disconnect is a different question though.
Noble is keeping their chain alive and all that USDC still fully works on Namada (or the rest of the IBC chains for that matter)
I would be happy to be proven wrong on this issue, but that does not negate the need for a clear understanding of the directions of development and movement in the right direction.
it's a fair point. we are actively working on a revamped roadmap and hopefully it should be ready in the next 2 weeks
Ok, not to state the obvious, but while going in th3 direction of private bridge or build multiple NAM MASP, I'd prioritise the digital assets with higher market cap first (btc, eth, usdt etc) as it would allow the adoption at scale that we absolutely need.
agreed. focus is fully on ethereum and by extension all evm chains and then solana
Tbh, I think having answers to the first two points would be a great start.
They have been asked multiple times without any clear answers.
the load is split pretty evenly between people but it changes from time to time so i'm not going to commit to specific names + roles (never done so in the past either and not going to start now for the same reasons).
