#3k SoH and Solar Auxilia

Instead of that and the proteus
I’m kinda going for a large board presence kind of thing
I’d do 10 with hammers in the spartan with a primus medicae and chaplain
Really deathball it
5 man squads won’t accomplish much tbh
What do I do with the points from the proteus
Agreed, in 5man squads they will get picked off, but a 10 man in a Spartan yeeting up the centre will upset a lot of people's day.
I also think this list suffers from the same issues as your previous one, which is it's got far too much infantry (literally 100 troops) with no real answer for any armour.
You'll have board presence to some degree but any sort of focus fire or blender unit will have not much trouble
Tacticals are basically a unit that is good at fighting other tactical squads and scoring objectives. Same for Auxilia, the issue isn't don't take them, it's just unwise to invest that many points in them
Just need to find a balance
But I like infantry 😦
Me too, but the quality of the infantry is the issue
It's just a load of dudes with bolters
Well the two twenty men units have to stay
I could cut the whole solar detachment and replace them with something else
I could always do Solar later
I'm definitely not against the idea of the 20 man, even if I wouldn't personally take it.
It's more a case of making sure you can deal with a variety of threats.
If you faced a 10 man Volkite Culverin squad with a Master of Signals attached to it, that's 50 shots coming your way at BS 3 and Deflagrate. It's gonna absolutely wreck.
You want a good balance of scoring units, close combat threats and ranged threats, I personally am more of a close combat sort of player, which is partly why I liked SoH, so in my list I'm very punchy, but I've also got fire support and ways to deliver the punch
What if I cut the solar and add another contemptor
Adding another contemptors can help. Determine if you want your contemptor to be melee, ranged or mixed. Ranged with lascannons or plasma cannons can give your list some balance but be sure to use some SA or tacticals to tie up any melee threats.
Heck dual conversion beam cannons would be cool, but they become a bigger target.
That sounds awesome
I would need to remove the SA to get the Contemptor in the list
That seems a bit too far
I would never put a chaplain and primus on the same unit. It’s no fun for opponents, especially not on a powerful thunder hammer termie unit
I removed the whole solar detachment, added the las cannon contemptor, I think I want a reaver squad or something of the like
I’ve got 400 points now
Pastebin.com is the number one paste tool since 2002. Pastebin is a website where you can store text online for a set period of time.
Is this better
Pretty solid. Personally I like just taking one tac squad and then despoilers otherwise, just need one tac squad to hold a back line objective
Im gonna try it how it is on tts and see if its worth switching
Yh, I think it's pretty common for new players in Warhammer (and that goes for any game system from 40k to AoS) to get really attached to the "Iconic" models which are usually always the most basic battle line, and they tend to lean heavily into them, I mean I was guilty of it.
It also doesn’t help that despoilers are hard to get without printing
Best way to get them is converting CSM legionaries
I think one of you should play tts with me with this list
Don’t have Tts yet, definitely on my list tho
It’s pretty neat
I’ve heard
That new list is definitely looking better
I personally don't like my contemptors fully ranged, a mix of a range weapon and a fist is good. Gotta remember that A. Dreads smack in combat and B. Our legion trait benefits them
Maybe the two lascannon ones just swap for chainfist/lascannon?
Can do
That also makes it so I don’t have to buy the stupid weapon frame kit
I've used LC before to good effect. My current go to is Melta Cannon and Melta fist cos I basically run full tilt at the enemy anyways lmao so I'm gonna get close, but have that range poke from a Dread via the LC can be good
Yh if you don't want to buy that than fair
Probably worth mentioning
It's pretty easy to magnetised the weapons on the contemptora
Chain fist with built in melta is good?
I was going to attempt it
Casta ferrum are better for full ranged
A Melta is pretty devastating up close, it's draw back is it's range and it's fire rate. But it lets you roll a second D6 on an armour pen. Which could easily one shot a tank
Now two Dreads with a melta cannon and melta fist is something your opponent is going to be afraid of so they'll draw fire away from other stuff.
Three of them probably lose some friends lmao
Definitely, but I think a contemptor is at it's best when it's being used aggressively
Looking at the leaks for the Beta Garmon campaign, there is an HQ consul called an Overseer that allows you to take Solar Aux.
Details haven’t been fully fleshed out yet, but it should allow you to take some extra SA.
Yh the Overseer letting you take Auxilia out of a detachment is pretty cool, but realistically you either use the Auxilia as objective scoring screens or the tacticals, taking both is a waste of pts
Yeah I was thinking about that
