Militia's job is to cover for the issues ive been having in my Mechanicum. I really dont want to deal with 1000 infantry units so i tried take what i think would work. The Ogryns walk with my Domitar & Paragon Domitar. Im open to swapping the Vorax and Assassin (But i will fight as I love the assassin model I just painted) if needed. The Field Gun Batterries and Fire Support Squads are to help with my lack of anti-horde. The Rapier Batteries stay close to my Thanatar to deal with Vehicles.

Panoptica is active since this will be strictly for them.

300 points for 10 BS3 heavy bolters that die/run to a stiff breeze does not feel great

I feel like ~5 vorax can perform similar anti-horde duties while also being considerably more flexible

I don't know that I would bother with the power fist on the force commander... or the defensive upgrades, frankly, but I guess he's not bad at shielding the calliopes or keeping them from running

Unless you really want the Ogryns to be with a character or holding an objective, the Provenance slot used for Ogryn Conscripts seems like a waste to me

You've got a free Elites slot left in the allied detachment, so you don't need the Ogryns to be troops

#

I think it would be better to take Armoury of the Old Night instead, and replace the Fire Support Squad with some combination of upgraded Infantry or Grenadier squads

You could just take the +1 ld provenance (or feral warriors, which is actually quite good for ogryn) and replace the fire support squad with vorax and I dunno, 1x militia or some grenadiers; keeps your model count low and all you lose is line on the ogryn. Which is not nothing, to be clear, but worth considering

But if you don't want to paint infantry at all, keep those provenances and just switch the FSS to vorax and this is probably fine

I dont mind some,not to mention ill be doing conversion work on any model that has the audacity to be in my army, but Im 100% not doing the usual amount when it comes to militia

You could also consider dropping the Fire Support Squads in exchange for more Ogryns and Field Gun Batteries

I went with Warrior Elite and wiped the whole army clean except the Commander and Rapiers

Grenadiers are my troop choice of course, their job is holding my objectives behind the automata. What weapons can I take that can support the main battleline

Okay,before i go to bed,heres the fluff.
Any humans on my forge are vat grown augmented clones that are either workers for the forges or (since im trying Militia) assistants to the Automata. They spend their inside of their suits to protect them from the pressure outside of the forges or the toxic air inside of the forge. (Deep Ocean Forge so kind of hard to vent the toxins). The suits aren't all that protective sadly. Anything less augmented than a Thallax or Myrmidon has a generally high chance of being crushed if they step too far from the Forge's dome.

Regular Skitarii generally arent necessary but there are a few. Basically the most elite of the clones are expected to guard the last remaining Titan of the Forge (The Warhound Ocean's Call) alongside its Knight Honour Guard. Larger classes of Titans can't be built on this world since they collapse under their own weight

I want them to be sworn brothers since their Commander would be one of those elite Skitarii I mentioned and the troops are biologically programmed to follow the orders of the force commander

You might want to consider going with a Solar Auxilia force using the Iron Pattern Cohort doctrine

You could use an upgraded Legate Marshal to represent the Skitarii commander

It's likely not a perfect fit, but it's something you could consider

The thunder stubs on the ogryns are kinda garbage imo, the whole unit needs boarding shields in order to be at all survivable

I’d also look to find the points for a medicae detachment to give them 6+ FnP, as well as a discipline master cadre to attach one to the ogryns for Ld buff

You can also attach medical and discipline masters to your field guns/rapiers/fire support teams (more importantly the first two) because of fire support teams of field guns have to fall back they’re immediately removed as a casualty

I got 255 points open and am considering taking Scyllax in my Mech for the Militia Commander

I do note that you unfortunately can't do this to the fire support squad; it's just the grenadiers and command squad that gain that option, everyone else just gets the free lasrifles if they want

I mean, lasrifles on militia or levies isn't nothing, especially with cyber augmetics giving you slow and purposeful (although levies are still gonna be BS1 during night fighting so it doesn't help them a ton). But yeah, no hilarious volkite culverin cargo haulers or anything silly like that 😦
